That didn't work today. Long story...

But Saturday I found out something useful: If I don't push myself on speed, I can work out for a great deal longer. Thursday I pushed the treadmill to as close to 6 kph as I could. I had to give up with burning shins at 21 minutes. Saturday I remained at 5.2 kph and I lasted 25 minutes, then I easily accomplished 20 minutes in the elliptical. That's a lot better, IMO, and in time higher speeds will follow (I hope).

Tiny workout.

Again I failed in the morning. However, I had to go to two banks nearby, so I walked. According to the pedometer, I covered over 1.5 kilometers at an average of about 4.95 kph in about 21.5 minutes (I paused it at one bank but not the other). The pace and speed is lower than what I do at home, but not bad.

If I may hark to an earlier rant of mine, THIS is good exercise ;)

I just got a fitbit for Christmas and it has been a wonderful tool and motivator as of late. You should look into it.

Thanks.

But I made up my mind to resist being connected at all times for as long as possible. I already turn off my tablet when I go to bed, and I refuse the iphone permission to use cellular data for as many apps as possible.

I did it!

I also began to do strength or weight training. This began last Thursday, and it's what I did, mostly, with 4 days off of work I got. When I have enough time, I do 35 minutes of treadmill and elliptical (split about 17 and 18 respectively), then 10-20 minutes with weights. I do the latter in my room, because there I can play training videos more easily. I started small, working the arms with 5 lb weights. I felt little trouble the first time, but more later on. I think when I'm not sore at all after the workout, it will be time to move to the 8 lb weights.

On weekdays, when time is short, I plan to do 5 minutes on the treadmill, ten on the elliptical and ten on weights.

May I recommend riding a unicycle 100 miles per week? I can almost guarantee that worrying about weight will be a thing of the past.

I don't know how to answer this without getting a suspension or being banned for life.

I had not trained legs for years (my genetics gave me muscular legs naturally)
so, after about 7 years not lifting weights with legs, I started up again
Now, I was only able to do 6 reps with 225 pounds on squats
Back in the day I would do 10 reps with 405 pounds
Oh well, back on track and I think in about 6-8 weeks I will be back to my old ability - maybe 10 weeks

My genetics screwed me several times over.

I don't intend to develop any kind of lifting ability. All I want to do is tone up. That should be simpler and less tiresome ;)
