social worker encouraged me to apply for Meals on Wheels delivery for about $135.00 a month. .

I thought Meals on Wheels was free and they accept donation to fund it.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

I'm sure they accept donations but 'taint free. They do however send the bill only at the END of the month so I guess if anybody stiffs them, its free.

My mother in law gets Meals on Wheels and she isn't charged. Since we signed her up they send us a donation request every month or so but definitely not a bill. I wonder if it has to do with income level and assets as she has basically nothing. It may also very by state.

I know the feeling. I just had Kim-ci and peanut butter. MoW has got to be better than that.

I passed the Meals On Wheels inspection.
Until then i'm using up the food bank chicken breasts and food bank tomatoes with my store bought chopped garlic, but it sure is tiresome and it induces thirst but I really lack beverages.

Today was Food Bank Day. I guess I should resign myself to a poor diet. Everything is junk food, surplus cheese, stale, cheap bread. It does however have the redeeming quality of being free. After my initial sugar jag, I slurped some coffee and commenced to attend to my purchases from the other day: slicing carrots, boiling sweet potatoes, etc. How do you boil three bags of sweet potatoes in one pot? I plan on adding it all to my left over lentil and garlic water now that most of the rock-hard lentils are gone. I also got me a head of cauliflower I gotta chop up and add to it.

I have absolutely no idea why I thought little red beans should be boiled for two minutes and then simmered for 25 minutes but I did. I had to go online to get disabused of this notion after that first plateful. I was suspicious when I heard the beans hitting the plate.

"Little red beans"? Are you sure they're beans?

You need to soak them overnight first.
