Fox News had one of those banners at the bottom of the screen "Obama pays a billion, Trump pays 0"

because the actual going to war cost us nothing?

IF we really end up PAYING Iran zero, then the banner is fair. I have no idea what ‘fair’ reparations for the school destruction is, but could easily see it eclipsing $1 billion.

The cost of the war? Someone will figure out the direct costs and that will be in the billions of course. The indirect costs of the inflation it brang about is much harder to pin down. But I would surmise more than the direct costs.

One ‘savings’ is that now the multi trillion dollar national debt is of course lower in ‘real dollars’ due to the inflation.

Seems like this ‘deal’ is already teetering. Trump realizes he looks really bad. And possibly thinks resuming bombing will make him look strong. And of course Israel is basically ignoring the ‘deal’ because they weren’t a part of it.

Obama "paid" nothing too. Obama approved the release of frozen funds.

Trump is approving the release of frozen funds (probably around 22-25billion,) and leading a fundraising investment pot for 300 billion of private and governmental investors into Iran.

Even if you do not count the fundraising Trump is doing Iran, and just focus on the frozen fund release, he is releasing 22 billion low end (probably 24 billion will be final number it is looking like.) Obama released 1.7 billion as part of a deal.

I am not math genius, but 22 billion is many times larger than 1.7 billion. And 322 billion is many many times larger.

And, that is not even getting into the sanctions relief or the fact that tolls (fees whatever,) will likely be approved. These items alone would also be a boon.

This is a gold mine deal for Iran. If you pretend it is not, you are not living in reality.... There is a reason even the NeoCons are turning on Trump over this, because it is basically a cash infusion to Iran in order to beg to reopen the strait.

Personally I support the deal, and think Trump is doing the right thing and give him some praise for truly pushing for peace over the NeoCon influences surrounding him. The only reason I don't give him massive credit, is because he started the war, if he was ending somebody else's war he would get more credit. But, I still grant him some credit for turning on them and eventually doing the right thing.... So Trump can take the win for now, if the deal finalizes and we have peace.

In this particular scenario, I don't blame Israel. They endured a rocket attack after the deal was in place so I do not blame them for reciprocating. The whole MOU was a joke and I don't think anyone actually believed it would hold. The question is how will the U.S. respond? My guess is rhetoric and not much else.

If we could storm the beaches at Normandy, what is preventing us from storming the beaches of the Straight of Hormuz?
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Donny is asking Congress for $80 billion to cover the costs of the Iran not-a-war.

Deal teetering? Israel not cooperating? That can't be! Isn't Donny "most powerful person that has EVER walked this planet"? Just ask him and he'll tell you...

Trump is technically right, and the next President will be even more powerful, and then the following even more powerful.

The current President is the most powerful world leader, and the Commander of the most powerful military. And, the most current President will always have access to the most updated tech, so whatever year it is, that President will be the most powerful person in the planet. At least this will always be true, unless another country outpaces our strength some decades from now (which is possible.)

My guess is the next President will have access to insane tools with how fast military AI tech is evolving. In 2.5 years, who even knows, it may be a different world.

That being said any President that needs to constantly talk about how they are the most powerful person in the room, is kind of sad.... And, maybe he should have spent more time on the Iran situation and less time posting online about his power.
