Clarification: No company towns inside the U.S. post civil war were. I am sure you can cite some towns in some other countries in the late 1800s-nid 1900s that technically had slaves. But, speaking in terms of U.S. towns, no.

No you don’t get it. It was just bondage by another name. You don’t get it same as you do not get that blacks sold their people to slavers. And that it was white Europeans who mostly ended slavery during the scramble for Africa.

You are thinking of company towns now not how they were then. I will say it a second time. You owned nothing. You got paid in company script that was only good at the company store. Leaving was de facto impossible because you had no actual money. Goons kept the people in line. You might have had to bring your wife or daughter to “entertain” the foreman to keep working.

Is Juneteenth any more ridiculous of a holiday than Christmas?

Why would the biggest national holiday of the year be premised on celebrating the birth of a religious figure, given the separation of church and state?

Why not celebrate the birth or Buddha, or Mohammad?

Kwanzaa deserves the contempt, but Juneteenth?... of course it's humor. Humor on a subject that Geno would not find funny. Must really hate the one about Republicans making Juneteenth possible LOL . So Geno adds to the humor. Those were good, clever.

For Juneteenth, it's partly a reminder of how old I am. I keep picturing the following scene in grade school of my day. It's unlikely because although Juneteenth was obviously around, we were not told it was a holiday in school! Probably not even in Texas would this happen.

The Teacher hears everyone talking about Juneteenth. She then goes on to insist on the correction 'June Nineteenth'. When some brave soul says "but people say Juneteenth" this gets shot down as following the example of ignorant people [or worse, except in MA, Geno]. The girls in the class observe the correction but the boys keep getting in trouble for saying Juneteenth.

Today the teachers everywhere no doubt tell the kids all about Juneteenth and don't miss a beat using that word.

Geno acknowledges the meme of Republicans ending slavery. He also does not give credit to White people ending the slavery in the colonies and the United States that they themselves started and perpetuated. Geno also acknowledges that the Reupiblcams of today would put blacks back in chains if they could.

White people owning black slaves is a problem of white people's creation. All they had to do was say "No thanks, I'm good." It didn't matter who the sellers were. White people were willing buyers. Stop blaming the slaves for being slaves.

You keep bitching about company towns, but also keep saying that is someone doesn't like their low paying job they should just leave and get a higher paying one. Which is it?

Your IQ is clearly too low to grasp that getting a better job today and breaking free of a company town pre-1930s are two different things. This is shown by your refusal to accept that Republicans formed to stop slavery, that Democrats started a war to keep it, and Democrats are the ones who kept black people in chains via Jim Crow and other means until the 1970s.

Your claims of Republicans being against black people have zero basis same as pretty much any claim you make here. You are the one who believes blacks are not smart enough to get ID to vote and need all kinds of other help from white liberals to function.

If you want this question you would need to show some examples of racism or racist policies by the Republican party. We both know you cannot and will not.

If the Democrat party is supposed to not be racist, why do they make race the basis for so much of their existence? Why do they openly say that blacks need special help to succeed?
