If Donny wants me to buy an American car, he should tell Detroit to leverage a free market to build a better car.

He can’t. The Democrat labor rules/safety rules/pollution rules/minimum wage rules/accounting rules/general red tape make it very difficult to compete with say, our neighbor to the south. In a truly free market the automakers wouldn’t be hamstrung as they are. At least now they don’t need a DEI coordinator on staff!

We can get more and better positives with less slimy politicians.

But sadly we didn’t. We got Trump. So for the next 3+years I’ll take his positives and ADMIT they are positive. And continue to point out his negatives as well.

People here use the ‘get the popcorn out’ phrase. When the Dems take the House in 2026, and Trump will ONLY have bills to sign that are approved by Hakeem Jeffries, GET OUT THE POPCORN!

I'd much prefer when he takes the Dems take the Senate and never ever confirm any of his cabinet or judicial nominees.

Funny how the Japanese and the Germans and the Koreans have figured it out....

Democratic labor and safety rules so less auto workers get injured on the job and need your physician services. Minimum wage rules so workers make a wage that supports their households. Accounting rules so there is transparency in business records so investors don't get scammed. Red tape to make sure everyone does their job properly, Got a problem with that?

Not really. I hated taking care of serious workplace injuries, because the human costs were often so high. We’ve had the minimum wage discussion ad nauseum. It shouldn’t be an employers responsibility to support your family. If you don’t like the wage the employer is offering, don’t take that job. Haven’t the J and G and K ‘figured it out’ by building factories in the USA? Speak with any business owner about the problems with ‘red tape’. The only accounting rules that matter to me now are how many strokes took from the bunker.

This is the Market Crashing thread. Started by MrV to throw shade at Trump. Clearly blaming him for the woes 10 months ago. Since MrV started the thread, the market (I used NASDAQ) is only up 21% in those 10 months. I’m asking a moderator to change the thread title to Market Soaring.

My opening post was four words.

I was commenting on how the market was doing on that day.

But yeah, of course I was "throwing shade" on the fat oaf: why wouldn't I?

Countries with high GDP but poor citizen well-being often struggle with inequality, corruption, resource dependence (like oil), or political instability, creating a gap where wealth doesn't trickle down; examples often cited include the United States (inequality/access), Russia (governance), Qatar/Gulf States (resource curse/labor), and historically Argentina (instability/inequality).

Sounds familiar.

I call this graphic bullsh-t. Exactly what does this graphic consider as revenue? If you go by "Federal tax revenue by state", the above listed blue states generate less that 50% of the "Federal tax revenue" in 2024.
