The only way to win is to not play.

By not playing we have lost our industrial base. That is losing.

Depends what your end game is.

We "lost" our industrial base for several reasons, the main one being we only climbed to the top of the heap because the rest of the world had been beaten down by WWII: our then unique position of having an ocean to insulate us from attack coupled to a trove of unexploited resources coupled to strong national and governmental will allowed us to claw to the top.

Post WWII, the rest of the world recovered and got back into position to challenge the USA.

We then made a conscious, political decision NOT to be an industrial power any longer due to the steep cost to the environment that industry exacts: we shipped it offshore and our air and water got much, much cleaner.

I guess MAGA now stands for "Make American (Skies) Gray Again..."

total nonsense - but of course, you had no desire to post accurate info - your only desire was to pump up the charlatan named Trump

in 2023 U.S. Manufacturing contributed $ 2.3 TRILLION to the U.S. GDP

there were 15.7 million employees in U.S. Manufacturing in 2023

the U.S. is the world's 2nd largest manufacturer after China whose population is more than 4 times as great

there were 462,000 Manufacturing job openings as of January 2025

there were 605,548 Manufacturing businesses in the U.S. in 2024

I don't know why everybody's having a heart attack. The Dow is almost exactly where it was 6 months ago in October before the election. I don't remember the world ending last October everything was just fine. What I'm reading is it's foreign investors that are selling because what Trump is doing to the tariffs in their countries and how it will affect the companies in their countries. We have to remember that a huge amount of the stock market is foreign investment. Almost 1/4 of stocks in the stock market are owned by foreigners. That's a huge number. And the wealthiest 10% of Americans own 93% of what's left. Think about all those numbers.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

this is a very misleading post

the Nasdaq DROPPED JUST UNDER 6% IN ONE DAY - that's an enormous loss - it's not meaningful to compare it to what it was 6 months ago

the total market capitalization of all stocks is about $62 Trillion

when you take out the 20% owned by foreigners and then the 93% owned by the wealthiest Americans you still have ordinary Americans invested to the tune of more than $3.5 trillion dollars

that is money for college educations and retirement - and if this keeps going on which seems likely - a lot of it will be wiped out - and the plans of many investors which were based on expecting the U.S. to have reasonable policies will be harmed if not destroyed totally

Trust in Trump or T.I.T ..... SUCKLE AT TRUMP'S BREAST!

Trump’s ‘true-believe sucker investors’ are ‘about to lose everything’

Investors of President Donald Trump’s media company could “lose everything” after Truth Social made a new filing on Wednesday.

Truth Social filed papers with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that would allow Trump’s trust to sell up to $2.3 billion in stock, Axios reported Wednesday. Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates the Truth Social platform, filed the statement that allows “variety of shareholders to sell stock from time to time,” according to the report.

Critics and pundits quickly pointed out that Trump is trying to “cash out” on Truth Social as its value continues to plummet.

“Trump is now cashing out of his fundamentally worthless social media company, which has now lost 57% of its stock market value since he became president—even more than Tesla’s 45% 3-month drop. Wonder how many of Trump’s true-believe sucker investors will learn their lesson?" author Kurt Anderson wrote on social media platform X.

Larry Summers about the tariffs.

It is utter and total nonsense. This action has taken three trillion off the stock market as a consequence of an hour of rhetoric. The stock market reflects only part of the economy so if you took the cumulative loss extrapolating from the market,'s more damage than any econ policy pursued by any president probably in American history.

The sky is falling the sky is falling! If you have a basement you should hide there. Lol. I've been hearing this crap all my life every time the stock market takes a big dive and we always recover and we even recovered from the Great Depression. But every time it happens the doomsayers moan and groan and cry like babies. Back where we were 6 months ago and they're jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Whatever.

The difference is Trump himself CAUSED this crash.

Unprecedented.

Dollars to donuts he and his cronies shorted the market big time.

Felons do what felons do.

He certainly acts like an autocratic emperor: why is Congress not involved in setting tariffs?

So what if he's president: this should be BEYOND the power of one man to control.

A sad, sad day for America and democracy.
