You’re a smart guy. Presumably low 7 figures in investments. Just let us know how YOU capitalized on the Trump market plunge? I mean, if you KNEW Trump’s tariff’s were going to tank the market it would have been quite simple to profit off of it. Tell us how you did it? SOOPOO did not

Oh, I am "smart" in a few areas but not investments, i.e. I do NOT do any hands on trading and no, I didn't short the market.

I leave it up to the pros, the fund managers at Vanguard, Fidelity, Chas. Schwab and Edward Jones to handle those decisions.

As for the current meltdown I have done nothing and plan to do nothing.

I have more money tied up in "safe" investments than I do in the market, e.g. real estate, CD's and annuities, so I won't get hurt too bad...but this needless loss still stings / pisses me off: I feel bad for the little guys whose pensions and retirement hinge on a healthy stock market.

This isn't the first meltdown and it won't be the last, and just like the ocean's tide the market will rise again.

But I can't give Trump a bye.

I’m also waiting for Terapined to chime in how much money he made taking advantage of his (quite accurate!) prediction of what Trump’s tariffs would do to the economy and market.

Your comment is absurd. Did you take all your money out of the stock market when Biden was President and pour it all back in to the market when Trump became President. Of Course not. We retirees just leave our investments alone and roll with the punches
I'm just a regular retiree that has lost a lot of money since Trump took over.
I dont gamble my retirement. Im like 99% of retirees holding onto my assets long term
You seem to be angry at me and missed for correctly predicting Trump would crash the markets
Why aren't you angry at Trump instead?????????
He crashed the market, not me or missed or Dems.
Trump did this
How much did you lose?
I would have railed against any President that crashed the markets regardless if Dem or Rep
You would have been furious if Biden did it
Why not furious at Trump
Part of the cult????????????????????
If a President crashes the market, do you need to check if the person is a Dem or Rep before complaining???????????
Why do you give Trump a pass. Is it due to your unrelenting hate for Dems that you cant see Trump as one of the worst Presidents ever
He can stop the crash in a nanosecond but refuses. He can help retirees if he so chooses. He chooses not to making him one of the worst Presidents ever but Soopoo the tariff backer cant see this

I have never invested a dime in the stock market because I'm not a gambler.

"Let me share why I dislike investing in the stock market even in good times.
The problem with the stock market is that despite great gains, any losses feel
at least twice as bad. Even if the stock market losses are paper losses, it still
feels very painful."

I have never like trusting other people with my money, so I don't. Neither does my wife, all her money is in banks, collecting interest. I have no idea how many banks because I never asked her. When I discovered roulette 20 years ago when I was 55 I thought if I do this right this would be a good retirement thing way better than any investment. And I was correct. To me investing is always laziness, people are way too lazy to be creative so they just throw their money at somebody else and hope they can do it for them. Good luck with that.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

To each his own.

The bulk of my cash is tied up in brokered CD's; til recently I was earning over five percent interest and now it's mid-four.

Hopefully you are savvy enough to find high interest accounts such as I did instead of keeping it in the typical savings account which pays a fraction of one percent.

Unlike you I am a gambler, that's why I keep a good sized chunk of coin in the market, aka "the world's biggest casino."

Piers Morgan does business for a living and he said today that he gives this tariff business two months to see if it works or not. He says it's ridiculous that everybody's having a heart attack and it's only been two days since it was announced and it hasn't even started yet, the tariffs don't start till the 9th. He played a bunch of clips of people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden and Bill Clinton all talking about tariffs the same way Trump does. But of course they never did anything about it. Everybody agrees that this deficit will kill us as a country a lot sooner than we think unless we do something drastic. But nobody wants any pain in the solution, or they want somebody else to feel the pain and not them. Too bad life doesn't work that way.

And he pointed out and played clips of Trump saying over and over that this was going to cause potential slide in the stock market. He's been saying it for months but people act like this is all new to them.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Just so it is clear to you…. I blame Trump 100% for the recent 10% or so drop in the stock market.

To answer EB who says he never invested in the stock market…. I can’t give an exact amount as to how much more I’m worth because I DID invest in the stock market, but it’s easily 7 figures.

To answer terapined about my investment strategy under Biden, I still believed stocks were a better investment than bonds/cash/etc…. so I generally kept mostly invested in stocks. My slight change into non stocks had more to do with my age than who was president.

Trump is a jerk. There were certainly ways certain tariffs could be used reasonably in our country’s best interests. Trump is not the guy to figure out how, obviously.

As usual you miss the point. Who cares that you made money, there is a thousand people who lost their shirt for every person that made a lot of money. You yourself making it means nothing just that you got lucky. As far as Trump goes, whatever you say about him is meaningless because you've been running him down ever since he was elected his first term. You made no bones about the fact that you can't stand the guy yet you think your opinion it's worth something. It's not because it's totally colored by your juvenile emotional reaction to him.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I wonder what will be the next disaster caused by him
.

He'll 'force' an unwarranted reduction in interest rates. Seriously further damaging the markets and feeding more inflation.
He'll precipitate a default on US treasury bonds.

Oh, and behind the scenes, he'll suck in private bribes where mysterious benefactors enrich 'trump' organisation entities.

I wonder if EvenBob and indeed other Maghats are busily filling their boots with Tesla? If not, why not.

This is kind of like saying WWII was lost a week after Pearl Harbor. Or the firs losses in Africa. We have been played for suckers in international trade for too long. Trump is actually doing something about it and types like you complain. The first nations are already caving.
War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength
