Touché.

But in the pantheon of stupid Republican decisions, if Trump somehow actually tries to run again, that would top the list. As much of a ‘mandate’ as some in the MAGA crowd think he has, he only won in 2024 by a sliver of the population. He’s probably slightly less popular now amongst the general population. And there are enough ‘centrists’ or ‘independents’ that solely for ‘not allow anyone a 3rd term’ reasons would vote against him. Let’s add in it will be 3 years from now and his cognitive decline is becoming more obvious each time he speaks.

We will get to vote for Vance (Trump lite) if we are happy with the results of Trumps 4 years. Or Newsom if we are not. Or SOOPOO if we are smart.

Vance likely takes it in a walk in 2028. Dems might put Newsom up, but it will be a Pyrrhic nomination win. I expect violence like 1968, perhaps to a floor fight as the Dems do not use winner-take-all for delegates and have de-emphasized the supers. Dems will spend their 2 year primary promising to tear down the wall, tear down the ballroom, tear out the patio in the Rose Garden, and open borders.

Vance will look honorable and presidential. He will talk about families and having children, Dems will counter that "women are not baby machines!" and keep appealing to the 20% fringe.

Yes, and he will vote against him in 2028 as well!

Correct.

Nor will I vote for the democratic candidate, no matter WHO she he / she / it / they / is / are....

And yeah, in many ways Trump seems to have a Libertarian point of view: I simply cannot stand Trump, the Man: a walking, dripping, bleeding hemorrhoid on the anus of America.

Gee, why then did he opt to switch from being a NYC democrat to being a republican as opposed to a Libertarian?

And yeah, in many ways Trump seems to have a Libertarian point of view:

He doesn't seem too libertarian to me.

-Trade Protectionism trade wars.
-over reliance on executive orders and actions to bypass Congress and the judiciary,
-threats to press freedom and attempts to "open up" libel laws.
-Loosening federal oversight of police and re-arming departments with military gear.
-Threats to withhold federal funding from universities based on speech or political stance.
- justice system seen as targeting political enemies.
-Foreign Policy Interventionism: instead of a non-interventionist stance
-use of the federal government to impose specific social and cultural mandates,

Trump does seem to want to diminish the size and scope of the federal government which is a Libertarian goal.

But his policies often seem schizoid: for example, him wanting to keep women out of the military: a true Libertarian would give men and women an equal footing.

I wouldn't say that. It appears to be smaller government with even MORE central control and power OVER the people.

Who is their right mind wants to be subordinate to the whims of this stupid man and his maganites?

Not me. But it’s MUCH better than being subordinate to the ‘tax the rich’, ‘use race as a factor’ in hiring, school admissions, promotions’, FORCE companies to pay ever higher and higher wages, decrease MY safety by favoring low/no bail laws, by allowing unvetted illegal aliens in, etc… Democrat alternative.

Just did a search on what the Democrats have (theoretically) have been fighting for. This is NOT about the Republicans ENDING Obamacare. It’s about HOW BIG a subsidy someone will get! They gave an example of a ‘poor’ (but not poor enough for free Medicaid) plan pays around $800 A YEAR today. Take away the subsidy the Dems are fighting for and he’d have to pay around $1600. A YEAR. The policy on the true ‘free market’ would be worth likely between $800 and $1600 A MONTH!

As I often say, once you give something away to someone they expect it forever. I know real people who chose jobs that paid less so they would get health insurance instead of a job that paid a little more without such ‘benefits’. But here, in that rare time the Dems had full control, they added the trillions in dollars of costs that is Obamacare.

So, I’ll correct your question….

Who in their right minds would want to be subject to ANY unchecked Democrat? The answer is obvious. Anyone who is a failure. Or who doesn’t want to put in the effort to succeed.

Health care is not a right.

Free housing is not a right.

Both are sort of a gift which can be taken back at any time.

Of course the original recipients of largesse will whine and stamp their feet: too bad.

Cowboy up, losers.

I paid for health insurance, and for the homes I own; if others can't afford it, too bad: natural selection at work.

Chief [King] Trump:

Might as well if they're going to put a gold glass Trump Tower next to the East Wing ballroom.

Never in the history of the world has someone so unworthy demanded and taken all possible steps to be respected and memorialized.

His real eulogy: "Meh...not so hot, really..."

There is a middle ground between your opinion and the ‘Robinhood’ approach which is the Democrat party. I’m happy schools are free. Same for fire department responses. And an army to protect us from bad countries. But expecting the government to feed you, clothe you, house you, provide you all your medical care, (add your own examples) to me is government overreach. There is a ‘safety net’ for those that truly can’t accomplish the minimal tasks required to succeed in society. But the Democrats freaking out that a guy is going to have to pay 20% of the value of his health insurance instead of 10% and were willing to torture the American public is why I hate the Democrats.

I like that MrV and I are close to being on the same page. Two guys who realize Trump is no panacea but see the Democrats for what they are.
