If he did that he would just be managing a couple apartments in an outer borough. You need to learn how things really work. Henry afore got laughed at when he was making an early car. Thomas Edison got laughed at as he tried to invent the light bulb. People said they would drink every drop of oil found in Saudi Arabia. Speaking of oil 7!test wells failed in Alaska and they only hit because all the rigs and men were already there. Toyota had to ship their first cars back to Japan because they didn’t sell.

Perhaps Denmark eventually likes the offer deciding a sovereign wealth fund is better than an icebox they have to defend. Who knows.

Everything is for sale, it just comes down to price. What kind of a deal can you give them. Denmark isn't really emotionally attached to Greenland it's not like it's a vacation hideaway for people in their country. The place is a massive ice pile that is inhospitable. The Vikings named it Greenland so people would stay away from Iceland which is a nice place. And it actually worked for a while.

Take the long view.

Greenland has vast amounts of untapped mineral wealth: a LOT of it.

With global warming melting the ice it will be easier to get at and plunder.

We have no real use for Greenland other than for military bases, and we already have a big one there.

It's just the Orange Oaf acting contrarian, trying to get a reaction.

Alas, the world leaders sized him up long ago and will play him like a fiddle.

Remind me which world leader ‘played him like a fiddle’ during his first term? I won’t hold my breath.
I do agree that it appears this yapping about Greenland does him no good. We have a big military base there, and I doubt there would have been pushback on adding more, had we just asked politely. Denmark is of course a NATO country.

Greenland is one of those places that is deceiving. Like Cuba in a way. The value is in the location. Greenland gives a claim on the Arctic. TDS people cannot see this. Smart people like Trump do, which is why he wants to make a play for it.

Teach me.

But not with the talking points you posted: that dog won't hunt: international politics ain't the same as being a slumlord.

The examples you quote echo the way the Germans didn't take "NO" for an answer after getting their ass kicked in WWI.

Sure, if at first you don't succeed, try try again ... and get destroyed and your country partitioned..

Got it.

Teach you? I gave you a pile of examples. No idea what "slumlord" you are talking about. Since you brought it up, the Germans are a good example. Destroyed in 1919 they rose to even greater power just 20 years later. Destroyed again in 1945 in just 20 years again they rose to be a great economy if not powerful in a military sense. Even the GDR was considered the best communist nation to live in. They would be reunited in barely a generation and a half after said 1945. Today they have entered the same decline as most of the western nations but that is another story.

You could look at their neighbors, the Poles. They were not even a nation for hundreds of years. But refusing to take "no" for answer they came back. Today they are on track to be the new power in Europe. Alas, if you had your way you would just tell Lech Walesa to give it up, that the USSR was never going to let Poland be free.

You would even say Mr. Walesa was not fit for office having been arrested and convicted!

On Nov. 27, Elon Musk — who, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, has been tasked by President-Elect Trump with running a new Department of Government Efficiency — posted on his platform X that he wants to “Delete CFPB,” referring to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The agency, Musk said, was part of a problem of “too many duplicative regulatory agencies” in Washington. But there are no other agencies in the federal government returning money to Americans’ bank accounts in the way the CFPB does.

Since its founding, the agency has returned more than $19 billion in cash to people who have been scammed by financial institutions, including predatory payday lenders and even some of the largest banks in the country. It has done so under Republican and Democratic presidents, including major actions against Wells Fargo and Equifax during President Trump’s first term in office, which, combined, returned $425 million to consumers. (Those actions both began under the Obama administration, but Trump’s CFPB directors oversaw the execution of those fines.)

It’s more like Trump is putting the Swamp in charge. This is no savings except to big companies trying to skirt regulations for profits.

Bad regulations need to be removed. Lots of regs are bad. We need to remove bad regulations before putting more new ones on.

I've never seen anything like this and I've been following politics since Nixon got elected in 1968. Trump has another month to go before he's sworn in and it's like he's already the president. You never hear from poopy pants Joe, he's completely disappeared. He's nowhere to be found, for all intents and purposes Trump is the president. The Press talks about him like he's president, the public is calling him president Trump. He has press releases and press conferences and meets with world leaders, never seen anything close to this before.

You might want to focus more on thinking and processing what you read than on breathing: I never said what you claim I said in your misquoted text above: par for the course, I guess.

Trump is an idiot if he thinks demeaning NATO members is helpful to US interests; hell, he has even suggested leaving NATO!

Hopefully you can see the madness there...it has been clear to those who actually understand how recent history has unfolded that we must keep both Japan and Germany as non-nuclear powers, given their military actions last century.

If we leave NATO Germany WILL quickly go nuclear, correctly fearing the Russian bear to their east, and this will lead to WWIII given the deep-rooted animosity between the two countries.

As for Japan?

Tough to say, but they'd want nukes also due to the threat posed by China.

Bottom line: "Isolationism sucks." If Trump removes the USA's "nuclear shield" then armageddon will follow.

Trump is an amateur issuing brain farts for his minions to sniff and applaud while those In The Know laugh at him.

The loan is easy, you just issue the bonds. Would be no "price per acre" but just a flat price. We have discussed buying it in the past, once offering some land in AK as a swap I read somewhere. The real thing is having it gives more of a claim on the Arctic.

Why would Denmark pay if they are selling it? What are you? On dope?
Well, The Mexicans paid for the wall, so there is a precedent.
