I like one conspiracy theory even though there is no evidence for it. Mostly because it was doable and half-way plausible.

White House insiders saw the writing on the wall that even if they pushed Biden, he no longer had the energy or competence to compete at the level needed for the runup to the election. But they knew Biden needed more than suggestions or advice to step aside, so they concocted this early debate that put Biden in the most vulnerable position. No notes debate. They gambled that public pressure would do what they weren't able to do.

The argument that he should get out because it's a full 4 year term is one thing, but the argument that he is able to serve out his term is another. Republicans are of course, only giving him the 4 year option obviously.

My read is both candidates wanted at least 1 debate before the conventions.

Maybe the campaign realized Joe was Uncle Fluffy and decided the one way out was through, which was to prep for the debate as best they could, put him out there and hope for the best.

He was campaigning in Nevada when he was allegedly diagnosed with Covid.

Air Force One rushed Biden back to Delaware so fast, the airplane 'shook'

If he was experiencing a TIA, the last thing they should have done was put him on a plane. Flying increases the risk of stroke. Especially for an elderly person who has had two brain aneurysms. One that ruptured.
