back in the day, if you wanted to check lyrics, you had to hope to find some on an album cover somewhere. Nice now that you can just google them

As for "I'm still standing", I never paid much attention to it, kind of liked it maybe. It's about being jilted by a lover, which I didn't pick up on, not trying to parse out the lyrics. But for some reason ... all of a sudden... I've been humming the part "I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah" to myself quite a bit lately. I'm revamping it as an 'this old guy surviving' thing instead of 'jilted lover' thing. But the lyrics are below

"I'm Still Standing
Elton John
"https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eltonjohn/imstillstanding.html

You could never know what it's like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use

And did you think this fool could never win?
Well, look at me, I'm a-coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away

Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did?
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
And I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Once I never could've hoped to win
You're starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now

You know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Don't you know that I'm still standing better than I ever did?
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
And I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah

came across this statement somewhere, "In the Middle Ages and up to Georgian times England’s chief wealth lay in wool"

>>>

google response,

Wool – and the trade in wool – was at the heart of the wealth of England in medieval times. From the 12th century to the 17th century it was the main industry
__

How did wool revolutionize Britain's economy?

The export trade in woolen goods accounted for more than a quarter of British exports during most of the 18th century, doubling between 1701 and 1770. Exports by the cotton industry had grown tenfold during this time, but still accounted for only a tenth of the value of the wool trade.
__

Why did the wool trade collapse?
Synthetic fibres and imported wool

The decline of the UK's wool industry began in the 20th century. Cheap imports from countries such as Australia and New Zealand, combined with changing fashion trends. Led to a decline in demand for British wool. Many textile mills closed, and the industry as a whole suffered.

According to research by Grant and Albright, a cow (living in a freestall barn) prefers to spend its day with the following routine:

- 12 to 14 hours resting
- 3 to 5 hours eating
- 7 to 10 hours ruminating (while standing and lying)
- 30 minutes drinking water
- 2 to 3 hours of social interaction

What they ruminate about?

Philosophy.

a lot of cattle around here raised for beef, the bête noire of many climate crackpots. In fact a lot are black angus it seems LOL

very pastoral scenes, nice to drive around and see it .... compared to most agriculture, much nicer.

The last thing you would ever, ever suspect is harm to the climate

Imagine how much methane was being produced by ruminates when North America and Africa were covered with them. Good thing humans have killed the vast majority of them. That will help save the planet.

I was watching a program where it was suggested the jump that the plot had them doing was on the verge of being too high. I wondered what height it would be where you had no hope. Considering the below, 100 ft, but I'm sure there was mortality beginning with just a few feet if, say, you land on your head.

>>>

A more recent study on 287 vertical fall victims revealed that falls from height of 8 stories (i.e. around 90-100 feet) and higher, are associated with a 100% mortality. Thus, a vertical falling height of more than 100 feet is generally considered to constitute a "non-survivable" injury

what is the terminal velocity falling 100 ft?

https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/free-fall-time

54.69 mph for 100 ft and no air resistance [50 mph might be typical for actual, I'm guessing]
