so here is an objective fact: the Skeptic Research Center conducted a poll around this time and found a majority of Leftists thought the number of unarmed blacks that were shot annually by cops was “1000 to 10,000 or more” . Per last year’s data from the Washington Post, it was “twelve.”

I'm pretty sure it was a white cop and his cop cohorts violating the civil rights of a black man directly leading tot he victim's death was the cause of the excessive reaction. No amount of boot licking spin changes that conclusion.

I actually agree with you on this (mostly we appear to disagree on the stats unless you are using a different metrict), and I would go even further in saying the raw numbers are irrelevant (it is more than 12 -especially if you mean all shootings, not just those that result in deaths-, I am not sure where number came from, but it does not really matter.)

Even if it was 10k, that does not mean that 10k is unjustified. If a particular demographic (regardless of which or why) is disproportionately carrying illegal weapons, resisting arrest, etc... Now if it was 10k and 100% of the 10k were deemed unjustified that would be a problem, but if it was 10k and 100% (or basically 100%) were deemed justified, the raw number is irrelevant. 10k or 12, the percent of justified vs unjustified shootings is what matters (for what it is worth, more white people are shot by police, and a higher percentage of shootings of whites are deemed unjustified.....)

10k shootings with a 100% justified rate would not be a problem, 12 shootings with a 30% justified rate would be a problem. This argument applies to combat zones as well (some people disagree, but I think the ethics are settled), the raw numbers do not matter, so hearing, "America bombed 100k people this year in insert conflict, etc...." is fine if that was deemed to be justified, if America bombed 100k people in attacks that the military deemed to be unjustified that is where it becomes a problem (not the raw number of incidents themselves....)

One thing most sides can agree on is Floyd was one example of somebody who should not have died (and the Court agreed.) However, he was not even shot, so he would not even factor into those stats on either side.....

I'm disturbed when the police kill an unarmed person, even in those cases where there is an argument it was justified. Even an incident where a mentally disturbed man threatening people with a knife was killed, which briefly made the news some time ago, bothered me. If I was on a jury where such a case was being tried to convict the cops of unjustified homocide, I'd go with 'not guilty'. If I was the police chief, though, I'd review police procedures and really urge training in ways to disarm a person like that ... certainly very do-able.

Yeah, I know, Mission would say "no, shoot him dead" the mentally ill cost too much to treat LOL

But what disturbs me the most is the Jacobins with influence who cheer on the riots that take place, claiming justification because the police are going around rampantly killing Blacks willy-nilly. And you know, if you re-polled the same people who think it's 10,000+ per year after showing them it's only 12, some justified no doubt as you point out, many would still claim it's 10,000+ ... the Narrative must be preserved!
