I’m not sure if you really mean that exactly…. Are you against having let’s say, a phone hotline where a 19 year old considering suicide can talk to a suicide prevention counselor? Are you against a psychiatrist prescribing meds which will decrease the chance of an 18 year old taking her life?

I think you mean that if someone has decided to take their own life they should not be PREVENTED from doing so. Offering alternatives is reasonable to me.

Did I state how you feel correctly?

I'm generally in favor of people committing suicide. Reduces demand for consumer items and thereby infinitesimally slows down inflation. When we look at the majority of political and social problems, it seems that most can be solved by there being significantly fewer people.

Perhaps the Buffalo incident was a suicide?

By report the couple had just left a casino; it wouldn't be the first time someone decided to End It All after a run of bad luck.

There are exceptions, but many suicides leave survivors in a world of hurt. And whatever ‘advantages’ you see are trivial compared to the pain many experience as a result of most suicides. I’m totally in favor of suicide as an option for those at the end…. intractable pain, incurable cancer, season ticket holders of the Jets or Giants, etc…

Who said I am against suicide prevention? I am against wasting taxpayer money. It’s not my fault you can’t understand that. Let me give you an example I think you can understand. Let’s say you took all people who report severe depression and keep them in straight jackets, with 24/7 monitoring. . That would decrease suicides. You like that idea? Or let’s divert funds from clean water initiatives to more suicide prevention initiatives. You for that as well? Or are you a liberal who thinks we should just print more money to pay for everything good?

Your degree has elevated you to an ivory Tower. Mine had me working in the real world.

I worked in the real world at least as long as it took you to think that just because you are a doctor, that also makes you a god.

Problem is, you think suicide prevention IS wasting money.

With the suicides and the Golden Gate Bridge, I read 1400 folks were recorded as committing suicide from the Bridge.

There are about 100M folks in the USA with a BMI (Body Mass Index) over 30, classified as obese.

My BMI has been historically low in athletics (around 3.0) but likely higher now.

So I'm not a candidate to jump off a medicinal bridge.

One of the side effects of this obesity medicine, is suicide.

That could be why the Silicon Valley billionaires are closing the Bridge openings off.

Because up to 100 million folks are getting ready to lose weight the easy way.

If 1% of that total of 100 million considered committing suicide, or 1 million potential suicides, the billionaires should form a suicide line on the Bridge or close the openings.

There is no way your BMI has ever been 3 as an adult, Concentration camp survivors never got so low. A BMI of under 18.5 is considered underweight.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I was not underweight. :)

There just was no fat.

The scales we went by showed what I presented.

It's possible the scale was changed before you were born.

But we had the plush expensive equipment, like weighing in water, etc.

My reading was the second lowest on one team at an upper-level.

Lots of medications cause suicide idealization.

Adverse Event Reporting System:

'832 drugs, ranging from abacavir to zopiclone, were evaluated. The 832 drugs, as primary suspect drugs in a given adverse event, accounted for over 99.9% of recorded AERS. Suicidal ideations had a significant positive association with suicide attempts (p<.0001) and had an approximately 131-fold stronger magnitude of association than non-suicidal AERs, after adjusting for drug class, gender, and age.'

The cost of medical insurance will increase more than usual in 2024, due to the popularity of expensive weight loss drugs. This is going to be especially hard on small business and the self-insured.

"Boom in weight-loss drugs to drive up US employers' medical costs in 2024"

Not taking meds could be enough for a person nowadays.

We don't need help. :)

Pain? Put a price on it. If nothing else, funeral services aside, it sounds like the survivors would be spending less in many sectors, thereby also reducing demand.

The scale is still the same.

Mine was around 3.0 and the lowest on the team was 2.2.

But we were not underweight.

We were huge.
