If anyone doesn't value their life, please stay standing up if someone starts shooting at the rest of us. If you don't mind, I don't mind.

There is a difference between not valuing your life and being willing to risk yourself for others.
People do this in Active Shooter situations all the time (far too often in America sadly).

And, even in not violence related situations people run into burning buildings to save other people's kids when they see people trapped (not talking firefighters, but regular people) or run into traffic to grab a disabled person in the highway.

I don't think any of these people are suicidal or feel no value in their life, but its a natural reaction when somebody (especially somebody vulnerable is in danger). Sense of duty is the term I think.

And, that is not even getting into certain jobs, like firefighting, where being willing to risk your life fully, in virtually guaranteed death scenarios for others (like climbing up a burning skyscraper that you know is going to collapse before you have any chance of getting out of, so you can guide a few more people down and free open some doors) is just a requirement of the job.

Nah, I'm just talking about Drich comment about not valuing his life, not people risking their lives. If you don't value your life you can just stay standing, and maybe your body will block the bullets for people who do.

This whole Ukraine thing is such a huge yawner. It's like Russia invading Russia. One of the Russian soldiers is he even quoted as saying he doesn't know to shoot at because everybody looks like him. Somebody else said just like everybody in the United States knows somebody who lives in Florida, everybody in Russia know somebody who lives in Ukraine. It's almost like a civil war.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Best coverage of what's going on in Ukraine is India Today. They are covering this wall-to-wall they have lots of reporters on the ground way better than anything I've seen coming out of the United States. They are a bit melodramatic but they're getting the job done. This is what war coverage looks like from a third world country in 2022. That's pretty amazing. And yes India is pretty much a third world country, I watch videos from India all the time and the poverty there is stunning. It's poverty that we can't even begin to understand. Any country that has that kind of poverty is third world.

Here is some perspective. Ukraine has about the same land mass as Texas. Russia has twice the landmass of the United States. Russia is the largest country in the world. Who do you think's going to win this little skirmish. It's a joke, Ukraine doesn't have a chance. Putin will just keep rolling hundreds of tanks into the country across their common border until Ukraine is overwhelmed. Just a matter of time. Hitler showed us how it's done.

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

He invaded Georgia in 2013 because they wanted to join Nato. Today, they still want to join NATO.

Ukraine intended to formally apply for membership in 2024. Hence, the invasion.

Putin is trying to shore up his declining population. It has been declining since 1992. Prior to Covid, the average life expectancy for a male in Russia was 65 years. They lost one million more people in 2021, mostly due to covid.

Honestly surprised by how weak the Russian armed forces appear.

So many videos of their crappy equipment breaking down on social media.

You say it’s a yawner and then immediately go into how into following it you are. Regarding visible poverty and third world countries, have you seen any major US city that doesn’t have harsh winters lately?

Trump and NATO Secretary General Hens Stoltenberg get into tense exchange at NATO summit

"We're protecting Germany, France, and numerous other countries make a pipeline deal with Russia, where there paying billions of dollars into he coffers of Russia. We're supposed to protect you against Russia, and they're paying billions of dollars to Russia, and the former Chancellor of Germany is the head of the head of the pipeline company that is supplying the gas.

Trump imposed sanctions on the pipeline. Biden lifted the sanctions as soon as he took office, only to re-impose them when Russia invaded Ukraine.
