I don’t know how the nuts and bolts of this work. Could your parents have just filled it out as they wish and mailed it in? And then if you voted in your state would anyone ever know? I’m not saying this is a Democrat or Republican thing, but I (would guess?) that plenty of younger people vote for their addled parents. And some for their kids who moved away, like you!

They would need to mail in a copy of their ID. While possible, this is harder that showing up to a random polling station and emulating their signature....

Your parents cannot request a ballot for you. My parents have the same primary house since HS, and still get ballots for me, they cannot vote for me, and if they do, my vote would flag as voting in two jurisdictions. Once I got a mail in ballot, filled it out, mailed it in, USPS reported it as lost in the mail and sec of state attested they never received it, so I had to go in person on election day, and go through crazy hoops for hours to vote in person as I was flagged as voting already (this was 2022,) so you cannot easily just double vote or vote for parents/kids. This is not the widespread problem that you are making it sound.

In my state (MA) there is a provision on the mail in ballot request form for a voter to designate a person to assist in voting, due to infirmity or disability. The voter must state the reason, and the person assisting also must sign. When the completed ballot is mailed back, then the assistant's signature is also matched to the form to verify authenticity. That's how younger people vote for their addled parents-by helping their addled parents complete the ballot with the addled parent's choices.

If you want to argue for taking away the voting rights of addled parents, or addled childless cat ladies or men, good luck with that. Let us know how that all works out for you.

What state is this, if I may ask? Because some states have universal mail-in elections-every registered voter gets a mail-in ballot. In the other states, the voter must apply to receive a mail in ballot.

I am respectfully dubious of some claims of ballots being mailed to long ago addresses and to long ago voters. That being said, if it is indeed occurring, the elections clerk(s) are royally screwing up.

I specifically asked if they were the actual ballots or just applications for absentee ballots, and they said they were the actual ballots. They say they always get sent a ballot for me there for every election.

I told them not to commit a felony - don’t fill it out.

OH mails out ballots 29 days before elections. Have Mom and Pop watch the mail first week of October and see what comes in your name to the house. I would be shocked it's a ballot for the November election. I am willing to wager a nominal amount of money it isn't, and will graciously accept defeat.

How can a person who needs assistance voting do all that process which sounds more difficult than just getting an absentee ballot?

So they probably just received the application. That makes me feel a little better. (They’re republicans, I don’t like the idea of them committing a felony and giving Donny an extra vote in my name.)

Trump is starting some sort of crypto business. Another likely opportunity to make money while his supporters end up losing money.

GA

Respectfully, that is practically impossible under the laws of GA. Whatever your parents are getting mailed to that address in your name, it isn't an unsolicited absentee ballot. I am willing to wager a nominal amount, and will publicly and graciously acknowledge losing is photographic proof is presented.

Unsolicited vote by mail ballots are just not a thing in most states.
