I knew a Cambodian whose father was a police captain in their village. Someone with a beef told the Pol Pot regime that the father was anti-government. They came in the middle of the night and shot the father dead in front of the family. Then they forced the boy and his family to dig a shallow grave and bury him in their own back yard. The family fled to Thailand and then the US. Sà-Wàd-Dee.

Years later he wanted a wife. The Khmer Rouge was long gone, so he flew back to Cambodia. His mother arranged the meeting. Unknown to him, there was an attempted coup of the government taking place while he was flying to Cambodia. When he landed, they checked his passport, saw the name and immediately took him into custody as a conspirator.

He was released after paying off the police with $2,000, and came home with a bride a week later, after another $4,000 in payoffs.

She left him for a Vietnamese, only five days after she arrived in the US.

In the USA, if selling a home in a high dollar area and moving to a low dollar area, a person can live like a king/queen (quality of living).

When moving out of the USA, I'd look at natural resources, historic currency exchange rates, political stability, climate, etc.

A country with a large amount of natural resources seem to have an advantage.

Time the move when exchange rates are favorable.

For example, tobacco costs could be 1/10 of cost in the USA.

With climate, I'd look at the Koppen climate map (see link below).

If you're like me, I like better climate from where I moved from.

One way to use this map, is figure out what kind of crop grows best in your favorite climate.

Then search for those areas.

There are pockets in geographical areas that are different from what people think the climate is in a place.

For example, to grow grapes (like in Dijon, France) a person might want a similar Koppen climate that fits.

So look across the globe to find a similar area.

Bad side weather too cold. Plus side no tranny/homophile agenda being shoved down your throat.

You want a combination of stable politically, no huge culture shocks, good medical care, low cost of living, and a few other things. A big expat community is a mixed bag. On one hand it is like home, OTOH, the locals do not like expats ghettoizing and not mixing.

Another thing that was important for me, is religion.

To prevent from getting decapitated.

So that rules out many places.

I don't know why people who move would want to live amongst expats. Learn a new language and assimilate.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

Putin wants a piece of that Red Wave. He lost 900,000 residents in 2022. Not counting his war dead.

Blue states lost two million leftugees between 2021 and 2022. Four million from 2010-2019.

Which says a lot about Blue states, considering Russia is at war, has mass conscriptions, shortages and a shrinking economy.
