Looks like they have high humidity half the year and the still have pirates.

Security is always going to be an issue where "rich Americans" are easy targets.

That’s why I will be a ‘rich American’ living with other ‘rich Americans’. If I go to The Villages no one will specifically target me.

Oh yeah, ever hear of the AARP?

Given the events of the day it is time to consider......NICARAGUA!

Every new place you choose is more
humid and buggier than the last.
These places are cheap because
nobody but the desperate want
to live there. Want a taste of what
it's like? Go to south FL in May-Sept.

A fact of life nobody considers when
they move is, the days are short in
the winter everywhere, unless you're
on the equator. So you're almost as
restricted in a nice weather place in
the winter as you are in the Eastern
US.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Why not just live on a boat? I'm sure you could learn the necessary skills. You can move at will where you prefer. Learn everything you can about the dangers from pirates to whatever. You're not stuck in any climate political or otherwise. A little overpreparing in GPS options means little worry of being lost at sea even in the worst disaster. Take a seafaring class maybe.

Yeah well I hate the cold. Hate it.

Welcome back.

You won't like sweating to death
any better than the cold. The
problem is, places in between
cold and hot are expensive
because everybody wants to
live there. Like Hawaii, or
Santa Barbara, or the south
of France. I've been to all
3 in the winter and the weather
is to die for. So are the prices.

You can have all three. I was in AZ for 3 winters, was not bad but nights got a little cold. You do not have to shovel heat.

Fair point. But if I’m in Florida in January, and I can golf from 9-2ish, then if the sun sets at 5 I won’t mind. My heated pool in the lanai will be well lit. I do know someone who suggested Chile for your reason as his winter home.

You don't hear many comments of people wanting to retire to cold weather destinations for a good reason.
