I have my eye on a Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH. Pull it with my current pick up, 2016 F150
Its kind of small of course but it comes with 2 bunk beds which I will use for plenty of storage.
I am still not at the point of no return so if I do get called back to work, I'll go back. The chances of that are pretty slim

That is small but has a good configuration. You can probably leverage that bunk bed space nicely.

The experience of moving everything out of a house is good for cleaning up and getting rid of crap you don't need. We had to essentially move out a couple of years ago to redo some things. The garage was filled, as was a trailer we brought in. A lot of "stuff" was given away, sold, or tossed. Clutter removed. It was kind of refreshing....

The RV plan seems like a great way to see the country.

You ever actually talk to people
who own RV's and stay in RV
parks? Good god. My wife and
I agree that even it we got an RV
for free, it's goes up for sale sight
unseen. We ain't 'those' people..
Terapined will fit right in.. LOL

The only time I ever did was when the kids and I were walking around a state park in Ohio. The RV folks were cooking out and offered us some food. It was a truly horrifying experience from which I have never fully recovered. /sarcasm

Actually, had we not just eaten before going to said park, I'd have taken them up on some burgers and then returned with a case of beer to give to them in return.

Interesting. I know a few. I know one who played sax for Elvis. Seems fine to me. Half the year in an RV in Texas and half in a house in Maryland.

I know one who is a multi-millionaire. He finds it a way to maximize vacation time by bringing his "home" with him. They do sometimes stay in other places (family homes, rental houses) while suing the RV to get there. They also stay in RV parks at times.

I know a whole bunch of middle class people who use theirs all the time for getaways.

You are a "lumper" on this one...there a weird people all over the place (which I assume is what you may be referring to Terapined as...but he seems pretty normal to me; we just disagree on things)...but everyone doesn't fit in one "bucket"....

Of course what I said applies
to ALL people who stay in
RV parks. Every single one,
no exceptions. Good grief.

I like the stories of single women
who try the RV lifestyle. They
end up quitting or buying a gun
and living in paranoid fear. No
matter the age of the woman,
the RV parks are full of male
predators. Guys who want sex,
or free meals, or to con them
out of their money. RV parks
are magnets for these guys.

I agree. 😂

I personally have never met a normal RV person.
In fact most of them I met were all drug addicts. Big time losers man.
But again that's my own personal experience.

Clarence Thomas, conservative on the Supreme Court , is really big on the RV life. Him and his wife vacation in an RV every summer

I know a woman who's late
60's and has a good income
from SS and her late husbands
Vietnam disability payments.
She got an RV two years ago
and moved to AZ with the
idea of retiring to Mexico.
Her friends begged her not
to do it to no avail.

She lasted 8 weeks before
she came running home.
She's older but thin and
attractive and looks much
younger. She was constantly
besieged by single middle
aged men in the RV parks.
As soon as they found out
she was alone, she was an
open target. They wanted
sex, free meals, free booze,
free pot, money. They had
RV's and nothing but hard
luck stories. RV parks are
just transient mobile home
parks, same kind of people
in both.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

RV = "Ruins Vacations." Drive one and see how many places you cannot stop. See how much fun it is squeezing it thru traffic and into the park. See how much gs it gulps.

Like anything, there will be a mix of people. Some retirees love the idea. But I agree on the kind of people who end up in the parks and the women who get hassled. I figure it would follow truck stop culture. Some of those are so bad women cannot walk the lot to the building at night for being hassled so much.

I'd need to spend more than I could afford to get an RV that would be acceptable for me. I used to tailgate at Bills home games in my father in laws friends' RV. It was great for that purpose, as if the weather was too bad you could be inside. Great having a refrigerator, microwave, TV, bathroom, etc... And I could see it being acceptable for a few days at a time, but certainly not for months at a time. I think it would be considered a 'mid scale' one, probably a tad over $100k new. (20 years ago). I think I'd need one around $500k to meet my wants.

I think you need to be pretty handy to be on your own in an RV. I ain't that!
