Ahhh, the sweet honeymoon period of RV life. You are sooo happy, have constant wood at all times. It usually takes about 3 months for reality to set in, and then it crushes your soul. You'll see. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Is 3 months the time it takes for the septic pump to break? Or is that when the A/C goes out? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Cool. Even though I may never get an RV. (keep thinking about it though). Been looking a couple active RV'ers online when I come across them in the sidebar on youtube. Last one I looked at was guy in Iowa at $15 a day campsite. Looked nice, and the payment was on the honor system. Still, it provided electric, though not much else. He had gas electric as well. He was liking it though. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

So far, meeting a lot of Trumpers. The guy building the power plant pretty much sits at a computer all day and has to wear a mask. He hates the mask. He said if he gets it then he gets it. Another guy I met hates the Gov in MI so he's RVing in FL which is open. I'm pretty much surrounded by 100k plus rigs. And you can't sleep at night because the paper thin walls catch everything going on in every other RV within 20 yards. Or when you have to repair your 'home' AGAIN. Or you realize you dread laundry day. And 101 other things. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Yeah, laundromat day. Last I did that was week 1 in Phoenix 15 years ago. I can't imagine having to do that weekly. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

| petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I recently parted with my cabover camper, I loved it. But there is a difference between a camping, and living in an RV. I'd meant to say this some time back, but I see you have it anyway? If anyone is going to stay in one of these things full time, you really want at least one slide out to break up the monotony of 4 walls. Years back the refers in RV's were 3 way and not just 2 way, they were of course 12V, 115V or LNG. The 12V function was good in concept, and that's how mine was, 2 way. But even with a big diesel engine, the standard alternator is insufficient when travelling at night with the ac going, and all the pretty clearance lights on the camper. With all that going, after a few hours, the draw on the alternator is to much and will eventually kill the battery's while underway. They've since stopped equipping RV fridges that way, iianm? My fridge worked best on LNG, between the different possibility's, LNG was so nice and cold and powerful that was the best way to operate it for coldness. But travelling occasionally I have seen where RV's have exploded while underway because travelers left the propane going, and it would seem they had left a pilot light going, which had blown out, the rv filled with vapor, caught a spark and literally blew everything above the floor, off of the frame. I've seen that at least 3 times, so I never travel with the propane on. What I found works great for me is, I keep a real sturdy plastic gallon jug filled most of the way with water. I freeze it good and hard and leave it in the refer part of the refridgerator and it keeps everything plenty cold for hours while traveling. Nice unit you have there, good idea to start small until you really know what works for you. Me, I have to have a generator, and built in so I can start it from inside. Once you are spoiled to the availability of 115v anywhere, it's hard to go back to not having it. I was cruising youtube "Back Porch Blues" and saw this, it made me think of this thread.
