I don't think the country can afford it That's why I am a fiscal conservative. I always demand a balanced budget. If we had balanced the budget, we could easily afford more payments Sad Republicans no longer support a balanced budget and became the spend spend spend party under Trump. It already passed the House in May and is before the Senate, called The Heroes Bill. Trump has nothing to do with it. https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/second-stimulus-check-is-it-coming-and-are-we-getting-another-1200-here-is-the-latest/ If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Being fiscally responsibly is not popular right before an election (or ever for that matter). People like money. The polls show that people reacted positively to Trump for signing off on the checks, he will want more sent in his name (yes that is not how it works, but his letter makes it appear that way to many voters.) |

The Heroes Bill won't pass the senate (but it should). I am talking a simple stimulus check. Probably approved within the next 1-2 months to come in the mail as the election is still on your mind. |

It won't pass as written but it will pass when they cut out all the unsavory parts, which they're doing now. And we can afford more stimulus. Giving money directly to people means most of it eventually comes back in taxes. Every dollar we spend of it gets taxed many times down the line. Unlike building a bridge or a fleet of Navy jets, that money never comes back. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

They can just print any amount the treasury wants to spend and not bother with all the mechanations of everyone filing and collecting. If the gov needs a few trillion here and there, just print it, rather than take it from everyone' income. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Been tried, does not work. Print too much and it becomes worthless. It's what happened in Germany after World War 1 and in all those banana republics and African countries. Putting it immediately back into the economy will make it a wash, eventually. If you follow how often just $1 is taxed, it's mind-boggling. Multiply that by a trillion. In 2013 each circulating dollar made $1.68 for the gov't in taxes. It's got to be higher now. But when the gov't builds a road, or buys a tank, or gives away a billion in foreign aid, it never gets that money back in taxes. So giving people $1200 is eventually good for the country. Gov'ts with good economies are money making machines. But of course politicians are greedy pricks and they over spend and we have a deficit. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

That's the thing, it doesn't come out of thin air. The result of doing that is inflation. Google search: "why can't we print more money" |

Now there is all that money sloshing around in the system chasing the same amount of goods. It kills savers, and also everyone on a fixed income. Prices are going up and up. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

| terapined Member since: Aug 6, 2014 Threads: 76 Posts: 12501 | Currently living the RV life and loving it. Bought a Apex Nano 194 BHS through the Costco program hooking me up with the dealer. Loving this camper. The refrigerator really impresses me. A good size and can run on gas or electric. Keeps stuff pretty cold. Very happy with it. I did not like the space I was put in at the RV park so rode my bike to scout the area and found the perfect spot. I feel like I am camping in a park rather then an RV place. Got all the goodies. Water, electric, sewer and Wifi. Life is good. Made friends with a neighbor before I moved to a more isolated spot. He's building a power plant locally and lives 6 hours away so renting a furnished mobile home in the RV park. Still working hard getting my house ready for sale.
