I'm embarassed to say I wrote too quickly about Evenbob's source recently posted and never read the article. It seems to my embarrassment to come from a traditional Catholic website. The point of the article seems to be against Protestantism by exaggeration of the number of denominations. The author claims that while there are a certain number of distinct Roman Catholic "denominations" they are all actually one. This distinction is unique for the One Roman Catholic faith and sets it apart from all the other splintering of Christianity that took place after the Reformation. While I still disagree with the number quoted, which I believe an exaggeration used to make a point, I do want to sincerely apologize to Evenbob for jumping down his throat without really examining what he quoted. In doing so I jumped instead and put both feet in my mouth. I am sorry.

At the end it says the number
today is over 50K. Of course
it's a gross exaggeration. I've
read the real number is closer
to 2500.

Did you read the names of
some of the denominations?
They found something in
the NT and read it so differently,
they started a new denomination
over it.

That was my orig point. Nobody
really knows what the NT means.
You think you do, and believe me,
so do all those other branches
of the religion. And every one of
them, I guarantee you, has a
boatload of testimony directly
from god to back it up.

Why is gods name (pun intended}
would an outsider take any of
this seriously. It's like Mark Twain
said, religion occupies people and
gives them something to do. Don't
read anything more into it than
that.

Personally, I want to party with the
Hidden Hindu Believers in Christ or
Independent Dunkers (Tunker, Dippers)
and hear their testimony. It's all real,
you know..

He obviously doesn't understand the nature of God as explained in theology
Of what use is theology? Why try to resort to theology to define a rock or water?

Russell should have titled his book "Why I am not a Catholic" rather than "Why I am not a Christian". Also, a lot of things have changed in the scientific and philosophical world since 1927. Russells views are quite dated and not as important in today's world.

There is just as much proof of a
god now as there was in 1927.
Exactly none.
