"The verdict was delivered on December 11 but subject to a suppression order until now,"

How many years will the appeal take.
Watch, they'll find a way to overturn
the verdict.

They are the pro's at "obfuscate and enveigle", no one comes close. They understand money, and play the long game.

This case really highlighted the uselessness of suppression orders in the Internet age. It was widely reported in December in overseas media so while Australian media was unable to report, everyone here already knew about it.

Appeal will take maybe 6 months.

Unless they find a way to make
it take longer. The Church will
find some good Catholic official
to pay off in the justice system
for 'the good' of the Church.

Why would they want it to take longer? He will almost certainly be in prison. It’s not like he gets to roam the streets while awaiting an appeal.

Maybe they all got together and he drew the short straw? The people are clamoring for a sacrifice, and although their numbers get fewer, they will sacrifice as many as necessary.
I'm sure they've run this through their business model more than once. They are doing some Sun Tzu stuff, going to reinvent themselves and all that.

Because it gives them more time
to find the right people to pay off
or influence. They want to avoid
the precedent of sending a high
Vatican official to prison at all costs.
Who's next, the pope? There's no
way some recent popes haven't had
sex crimes in their past, the odds
of that very high.

Several within the walled city have been taken down in the last few years, but I would think the corporation picks it's CEO [pope], with a eye for teflon. Taking down the head guy would not look good. Unless by the time any of them get that high in the organization, they all have skeletons that keep them quiet?

Yeah, nah. It will be heard in 6 months or so. Not years.
