There was a very long scene in the movie The Apostle where the police found a fugitive preaching in a church. They just sat outside with the police vehicles all lit up. I interpreted it as waiting out of courtesy to the church, but perhaps there was a similar law at play. I think this would have been in Louisiana.

I haven't seen this movie but may have to check this out
The most interesting scene to me was right at the end when you see the church.
A large lighted sign of an arrow pointing up. Love it.

It was a very good movie. I think the church name was Highway to Heaven.

I believe freedom of speech/expression covers religion without the need to expressly mention religion. It gives religion a special place in freedom of expression and that is a mistake.

If I want to wear a special garb at work and someone religious wants to wear a special garb, guess who has to come up with some logical explanation and who just says my religion says so, whether it makes any damn sense at all.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I am perfectly fine marginalizing anyone who believes in a god

Ouch. You have that right, but there is to be no complaining when the pendulum swings the other way.

swings the other way?
After over 2k years, what are the odds the pendulum will swing the other way during your lifetime. Pretty slim odds

"Until then, she plans to hide inside this church with her daughters, 7-year-old Yaretzi and 18-month-old Bella"

She is hiding in a church and requests asylum because of an abusing boyfriend in Honduras.

I'm getting cognitive conflict from the article. The church loves her, so protects her as a sanctuary, after she has proved to be fertile outside of marriage in a foreign country, against the immigration laws of our country. How does this continue ?

The church isn't a reservation or foreign nation within the boundary of the US. This is craziness going on in front of our eyes. No wonder our country is so confused.

They are a hateful bunch. Even killing each other in the name of the same god.

But for some reason, refuse to see what they do?

It is the same as the Shia and Sunni killing each other, in the name of their god.

The Tutsi's and Hutu's.

And always, somebody collecting the vig.
