But, it's worth pointing out that more Americans lean left . ...

Only because they don't know any
better. Once they start wising
themselves up they always
start leaning Right. Liberalism
is a cult in this country, very
hard to break away from a cult.
Look what happens to people
like Scott Adams. He was a Lib,
all his friends were Libs, as soon
as he supported Trump he was
cast from the cult and lost 95%
of his friends. That never happens
on the Right.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Canada doesn't have an Electoral College as such but our parliamentary system still protects smaller provinces and rural areas. Each member of parliament has one vote and through a party system they elect our Prime Minister. Large urban ridings usually have about 80,000 voters. Smaller provinces and rural areas often have only 25,000 to 30,000 voters. Far from 1 person 1 vote on a national basis.

But, it's worth pointing out that more Americans lean left and have for a while.... So if you measure the justification of a philosophy by the number of followers (which is a logical fallacy), you would also have the grant that there are more lefties.....

No, more do not lean left. Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals for decades. This is why Democrats rarely run as liberals. They govern as them, but they hide who they are.

As in Dilbert Scott Adams?
If so I am not greatly familiar with him, I remeber an interview where he correctly predicted Trump would win because of his unique persuasion skills. I don't know if he actually supported Trump or anyone, don't know enough about it. It may have been Dave Rubin or some other podcast that I heard him on. I actually agree with him on that point, Trump has a unique ability to garner support like few can (and turns negatives into positives)....

You are right that there is tribalism on the left, and people get shunned for all sorts of things. It is wrong. I agree that the left is more against free speech than the right.... Many bad leftists... Does not mean all policy is bad...

As for people turn right when they "start wising up", there is a direct correction between people becoming more liberal the more education that they receive...

That is why I said "lean left" not "liberal" very carefully, because you are right, the word Liberal is still stigmatized even in parts of the Democratic Party... But, for all intents and purposes if you lean left you are a liberal, that is just getting into semantics...

That's why when the results of education do not favor their philosophy, they label it indoctrination.

More education <> "wising up." It most often means becoming "book smart but street stupid." The further you go in college the more liberals you associate with. And said people rarely ever talk to anyone who does not share the liberal viewpoint. The further in education you go the more you are told to "listen to someone who knows" and ignore your common sense. This is why the liberals are always believing a "study" no matter what it says while those on the right question how such a study makes any sense. The liberal says, "UBI WILL WORK! See, this guy at the university just did a paper on it! He got his paper about why water is not wet published last week!"

John Stossell has a YT video about a bunch of liberals who got a bunch of crazy papers published, all fake, and were never questioned. (I do not have time to find it now, I will look later.) These "educated" people usuallt stay in college as long as possible then stay in academia because they are both afraid of and incapable of making it out in the real world. They are that far out there.

People who "wise up" are the ones who voted for Democrat because they will "soak the rich" then find their gas tax raised and get laid off from their job because "the rich" are no longer buying. They vote Democrat because "the GOP are war mongers" then watch Obama make a total mess of the middle east and drop bombs on Syria every 15 minutes his last year in office. They vote Democrat because they think the Democrats care about "the working man" then watch them propose more welfare programs and handcuff the cops trying to make their neighborhoods safer.

"Wising up" has zero to do with the pieces of paper a university gives or the letters you put after your name.

I have seen the Stossel segment, quite amusing. It was about Gender Studies journals and testing the most ridiculous fabrications that they would accept. I have no problem with testing the integrity of journals. Many Gender Studies journals are a joke anyway... (with stores like Climate Science being sextist, because not enough female glaceologists....).

Good post.

But, as we often refer to the sagacity of the Founding Fathers, the establishment of the Electoral College is doing exactly what they expected it to do. Without it, we would be discussing Hillary's response to COVID-19. Over 200 years ago they were clairvoyant!
