I'm beating AZ to the punch. Your statement is so obviously correct that I find it hard to argue with someone who disagrees.
The problem is is that it is the new normal for the Democrat party.

Try and imagine if a Presidential candidate announced..... "The next Treasurer will be a white male."

"The next Treasurer will be Jewish?"
The President is a fink.

But there is something wrong if you promise positions to certain demographics as part of election campaigns.

What's wrong with Biden doing a little affirmative action where you can easily show it has really been unbalanced? It's not like the position has several openings for every ethnic group at one time so that's not an option.

SOOPOO, that's a stupid comparison - white males have held the position many times over.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Also, the argument that we are putting a minority in before a qualified white, might work on a small scale like a fire department, but the idea that there is not one qualified minority out of an entire pool of minorities is especially only meant for the mentally challenged to assume is possible. Or a racist.

And from what I hear (btw) Trump has been appointing some unqualified judges according to the bar association Don't know what race they are, but as long as they have conservative credentials they're good enough. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

They probably call them "unqualified" because they are not liberal activists. Bar associations lean left.

This is kind of weird. Campaigning would ware anyone down. I think it is just to much for most of us older folks to put in that much effort, when he could be hanging out with the family enjoying the years he has left.
The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW

I am against affirmative action. It is a racist policy to me. Look a few posts back for my definition.

To me, the fact that it has been unbalanced in the past does not mean the SOLUTION is to eliminate any class of people from ANY position AT ANY TIME.
You and I each understand the other's position. Seems like we are wasting our time trying to convince each other.....

The office of the Treasurer of the United States was held by 28 white men from July 29, 1775 – May 29, 1949. As I stated earlier, the position has since been held by 16 women, one black and 7 Latinas. The requirement of Senate confirmation for the appointment was dropped in August 2012.

The Treasurer controls a relatively small portion of the Department of the Treasury (USDT) with about 3.6% of the employees. The Treasurer does not make decisions like should we mint the penny or the nickel or the dollar coin, as these decisions are all made in congress. But the Treasurer's signature on banknotes makes it a highly visible position, which was perfect for Truman who was under pressure to appoint a woman to high government position.

However, it is my opinion that engineering decisions are increasing exponentially in difficulty. The production catastrophe with the new color $100 banknotes was the most visible problem in the last decade. The coronavirus with its huge potential to spread through cash transactions will increase the engineering difficulty of the job. The Fed will almost certainly want to introduce a digital currency to be used in place of many small value cash transactions.

Giving the position to satisfy purely political ends, may be a real problem in the future.

Paco.... credit card companies and banks have already done that. Before this mess I noted that the only time I use cash is to tip maids/bellhops, etc.... and when I'm at a casino.

Is there some reason I should argue that all the possible applicants will have zero qualifications? I'm not talking about Oprah for Supreme Court judge. This is at least Judge Judy for Supreme Court judge.

and no, I wouldn't want Judge Judy either, but at least, she wouldn't be completely clueless.
