You don't know that,

Sure I do, prove me wrong.

That's the negative form of selfishness,
running rough shod over others. I'm
talking about positive selfishness, which
is what most people practice even if
they don't know it.

What about doing something even if you don't feel like it because you know it is the right thing to do?

Evenbob for example posted recently that in his reading he found the Inquistion to be worse than he thought..Any serious study of this time period .

He means a serious study of what the
Vatican says about what they did. This
is like hearing the Nazi side of what
happened in the Holocaust.

The Jews have their insight on both
the Inquisitions and the Holocaust,
they were the ones who suffered
the most. Which side is more valid,
do you think.

Nah, he created his own reality and
a god isn't in it. He doesn't want
all that unnecessary baggage. If you
had a choice (you don't because you
were brainwashed young) you wouldn't
want it either.

I do have a choice, we all do. I could say you have been brainwashed as well but that doesn't help anything.

That's why it always fails, you can't
have a real relationship with something
fictional.

Why do you say that religion fails? Christianity continues to the be the largest religion in the world. The vast majority of all humans who live or who have every lived have been religious. You would think if it was fictional it would have truly failed instead of thrived.

Nope. I mean a serious historical secular study. As far as I know the Vatican hasn't written or done some historical study of that period that I have read. Do you know of one?

Every side is valid in looking for historical truth. If you keep looking at the disgusting anti-Catholic websites you like you will continue to have the myth and urban legend you believe reinforced. Look at other sources and read some other books.

It's selfish! You're doing it because
you know it's right even if you don't
want to do it. You do it because you
know you'll feel better about yourself
later. You do it because you're a good
person and feel compelled to do it.

These are all selfish acts, you take
yourself into consideration before you
act and do what you know you can
live with.

Here's an extreme selfish act. You run
over and kill an old lady in a crosswalk
on purpose just because you can. You
run away and are happy you got away
with it. This is what sociopaths do. That's
why they need to be in prison and away
from the rest of us.

You specifically, do not. You're locked
into your beliefs because of the way
you were raised. If you think you have
a choice, you're deceiving yourself.

If people get something out of it, it's
not because of the religion, it's in
spite of it. Religion thinks they have
people by the throat and can move
them like puppets, but many manage
to escape. Nothing makes religion
angrier than an escaped lifer..

And yet you always come up with quotes
of the 'new' facts the Vatican has discovered
in their archives. That guess what, the Inquisitions
weren't nearly as bad as reported!!
