Linda and Bonnie. Putting this here because while Linda is obviously the more powerful voice, Bonnie’s understatedness sells the song, Sum of the parts ‘n all. The two together are incredible. This might be my favorite YouTube video of all.

The harmonies gave me goosebumps. Crazy for Linda Ronstadt. Almost 4 octaves of powerful, pure, sweetness. If you haven't seen Pirates of Penzance from 1982 (I think) it is glorious. She's not even the best thing in it, and she's stunning.

This is the kind of singing I used to do. (Did not know this song, though). Miss it very much.

Thanks, Mosca.

This still gets me going, one of the sexiest
women ever in rock and roll. This is at
least 25 years ago, turn it up loud to
appreciate it. Who doesn't like hot

For my money, the best forgotten singer of the past 75 years is Rosemary Clooney. She just knows how to get inside a song. Pick a video from any phase of her career, she knows exactly what she’s singing.

100% agree Mosca. Rosemary Clooney was (and thanks to electronic) still amazing.

She wouldn't even have to wear clothes and I'd still like her.

Nina Simone - "Feeling Good." rough and deep

Hard to explain her appeal. My first impression of her was she's talking, she can't really sing.

But I gave her a chance and she snagged me - her emotion.

Patsy Cline, her voice is true, honest and speaks straight to my soul.

I'm not comparing her to the legendary A listers in this discussion, but one of my favorite female vocalists is Tish Hinojosa, a local Texas artist. A beautiful soprano and a unique country Tex-Mex flair and a wonderful songwriter. If you like your country with some chips and salsa or if you like your Tejano with biscuits and cream gravy, you might check her out. Hers a couple of links, one in English and one in Spanish.
