The Betfair odds suggest Trump has a 48.5% chance of leaving before his first term is over. If forced, I'd say that percentage sounds a little high and I have a lot of bets against him leaving early. I could see an impeachment trial but I don't see the 2/3 of votes required (right?) to convict.

Really? Based on what, the wishful thinking
of the hysterical Left? Like I keep saying,
it's the last thing a party in power would
do, try and impeach their own president.
It would be like cutting your own throat
at election time.

Obstruction of justice. I think 90% of Republicans in Congress would not be unhappy if Trump were replaced by Pence.

Furthermore, how about putting your money where your mouth is. I'll give you -120 odds that Trump completes his first term.

That's an understatement. I think if trump dropped dead tomorrow, they'd be smiling behind the official tears.

Me, I'm not that hypocritical. If he dropped dead tomorrow, I'd head to the nearest liquor store and get a bottle of champagne.

Why?

Hypothetically, if it got to the point where public opinion was so bad that no one approved of the job he was doing then it would probably be GOOD for them to impeach their own president. If no one wanted him as president then why would they care if congress impeached him?

But that's meaningless, it could be 100%. They
didn't vote Trump in, if they vote him out they
just alienated themselves from 95% of their
own party. Believe me, they understand this
better than we ever could. For a politician,
their entire lives revolve around getting re-elected.
They eat and breathe it every day. They might
hate Trump's guts, many Dems sure hated
Obama. But he's there, and you better respect
the voters who put him there.

Because it's all wrong!
He'll never get the nomination! He'll never win the election! He'll never get impeached!

Fake news! Fake news! FAKE NEEEEEEEEEEWS!!!

It must be really weird to be emotionally invested in a politician.

The vast majority of Republicans voted to remove Bill Clinton from office for lying about sex, which I think a very high percentage of married men do. Whatever you feel about that, the vote went down pretty much by party line, not the facts of the case or the will of the voters who voted him into office.

There's certainly some truth to that. But if any President gets unpopular enough, Congress won't hesitate to through him under the bus.

Nixon won in a landslide in 1972-- he got 60.7% of the popular vote. By August 1974, his approval rating (via Gallup) was 24%.

Did Nixon break any law? It's irrelevant, it doesn't matter. Impeachment isn't about law, it's about politics.
