Corollary: if you have three numbers for one person, odds are you'll need to dial all three before they answer. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

buzzardknot Member since: Mar 16, 2015 Threads: 7 Posts: 497 | Once about a time in the late 70's I thought I had a good idea. So did upper level management in my department at AT&T. This was my idea. I hate being on hold forever. The more important I need to speak to someone, the longer the wait. It's built into call centers, then and now. Some bean counters decides that 90% of the people will wait 12 minutes before giving up. Or any such numbers. They staff that way. My idea ? Offer an option to the caller. Press 3 for C&W music, 4 for Rock, 5 for local news, 6 for sports, etc. But once it got to the PBX people, I found out that option was already built into large PBX's. AT&T even had commitments in major cities to use broadcast radio stations, as long as the commercials remained in. But nobody used the feature.... EVER. Probably due to NIH maybe ?? I still like the idea. |
