I'm puzzled why any pro-lifer could vote for Trump since he's been a strong supporter of abortion rights for at least 3 decades. In 1989 he co-sponsored a fundraiser for NARAL, in 1999 he told Tim Russert that he wanted to keep partial-birth abortion legal, and in February of 2016 he praised all the good work done by Planned Parenthood.

Impeachment is initiated by the House of Representatives, and it takes 2/3 of the Senate to vote for a conviction. Most GOP Congressmen will support Trump no matter what.

I wouldn't bet on that.

If the Orange Man does something so massively unpopular, and illegal, that 65+% of voters want him gone, that's a good chance to showcase their faux integrity and vote to convict.

Clinton got impeached almost entirely on GOP animus. Most people saw the charge as a minor infraction, far, far from the "high crimes and misdemeanors" the Constitution requires. Besides, he was still kind of popular.

Curiously the victim of Clinton fatigue was Al Gore.
