No doubt. But I'd suggest looking at Nixon. He wasn't impeached, but he resigned. The lesson is: if you really have something on the president that can be proven in "court," then chances are he'll resign rather than be convicted. Clinton, BTW, was not that unpopular with the population at large. The reason he was impeached, IMO, was the degree of outright stupidity he displayed. after having survived the Jennifer Flowers scandal in the primaries, and the Paula Jones lawsuit during his presidency, the thought he'd be playing sex games in the oval office was too much. No one, I bet most people thought, could be that stupid. But Slick Willy was that stupid. I recall a cartoon from the era, showing regular people reading a newspaper and thinking "can we impeach him only from the waist down?" Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

If I remember correctly it really didn't happen until multiple members of his own party urged him to. Now, based on watching Trump so far, he would likely have to be dragged from the oval office if that were to happen. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

Nixon was a fairly principled man. He lost in two states in 1960 by a very narrow margin. Both those states were known for election rigging and had a recount been done, Nixon probably been president. He didn't approve a recount because it would have harmed the country. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Bill was political cartoon gold. One thing that I noticed about President Clintons Presidential Budget. There are 6 out of 8 still posted on the web. In all budgets the President estimates the deficit for the present year which is already 4 months into the fiscal year. In all 6 cases he badly underestimated the deficit for the year. 1996 President's Budget (signed February 1, 1995 by Clinton) 1995 predicted budget deficit -$192.5 billion, actual budget deficit -$163.952 billion 1997 President's Budget (signed February 1, 1996 by Clinton) 1996 predicted budget deficit -$145.6 billion, actual budget deficit -$107.431 billion 1998 President's Budget (signed February, 1997 by Clinton) 1997 predicted budget deficit -$125.6 billion, actual budget deficit -$-21.884 billion 1999 President's Budget (signed February, 1998 by Clinton) 1998 predicted budget deficit -$9.957 billion, actual budget surplus +$69.270 billion 2000 President's Budget (signed February, 1999 by Clinton) 1999 predicted budget surplus +$79.263 billion, actual budget surplus +125.610 billion 2001 President's Budget (signed February, 2000 by Clinton) 2000 predicted budget surplus +$166.690 billion, actual budget surplus +$236.241 billion Now normally you would say that is good that the deficit improved more than he predicted in only 8 months. Most of the time the situation is as worse than predicted. In fact Bush got it backwards by more than 50%. 2002 President's Budget (signed February, 2001 by GW Bush) 2001 predicted budget surplus +$280.708 billion, actual budget surplus +$128.236 billion But the fact that Clinton got it wrong every single time, makes me think that the POTUS was taking credit for an economy that he had nothing to do with the. Revenue was increasing in unexpected ways. |

So 10,000 votes in both Missouri and Noisily changing would not have given Nixon enough EC votes to win. That's a net change of 40, which would have left the result 263-259-15 (3rd party candidate Byrd got EC votes in Alabama, Oklahoma and Mississippi. He'd have needed New Mexico as well to take the lead in the Electoral College. Texas was under suspicion, but the margin there was 46,000. Interesting that in 1960 California went Republican and Texas went Democrat.... It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

Catholics voted for JFK by a vast majority. But Mexican American Catholics in Texas exceeded the Catholics in most other states. Jackie Kennedy delivered the first campaign ad in Spanish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWnsJmBsvHU |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25010 | Rush had a great segment today on why Trump won. He didn't start a movement, it was already here looking for a leader. People who were sick of slaughtering babies in the womb, sick of illegals coming across the border unchecked, sick of not getting a raise in 10 years, sick of not having a decent job since 2008, sick of terrorism, sick of it all. Trump saw these people and tapped into their anger and frustration. He could have killed somebody and still got elected. And the media still doesn't get it, they're still rubbing their heads in puzzlement. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
