Here's the crux of their whole position: "After adjusting for inflation" You absolutely cannot do that, it's apples and oranges. It's meaningless because AFI does not in any way calculate evenly. For instance. A pack of smokes cost 30 cents in 1965 and a case of beer was $5. Now, in MI, it's around $15, and cigs are about $4.50 a pack. Beer is 300% more expensive and cigs are 1500% more. You will find examples like this in cars and food and housing and labor in every AFI you do. It makes AFI a meaningless calculation because it has so many exceptions.
