This might be worthy of a new thread, but what sort of new rules could prevent this from happening again in 2020? (How about a rule stipulating that the nomination may only go to a candidate who releases their tax returns.) By the way, I think Trump is a completely unique phenomenon, it will never happen again. He was the right celebrity who came along at the right moment in history to swindle a major political party into nominating him. |

True. But a Trump presidency would further defile the GOP brand, which is kinda cool. Moreover, I'm very impressed by how Trump has discredited the religious evangelicals. Falwell endorsed Trump before the primaries, which is totally insane, considering that at that point he still had several genuine Christian candidates to choose from-- Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, and Carson are all devout believers. ) Falwell opted for the serial cheater atheist casino owner. Trump isn't all bad. |
