Sometimes you don't know whether you'll be able to vote on the designated day or not. So you opt for early voting, or absentee, and then find out your trip for/during that day is moved or cancelled, or decide you won't take the job off state, etc. You still voted early, but now you're available on the official date. Then if you realize Trump is a clear and present danger to America and the world, you can change your vote for Gary Johnson (in some states). Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

I book travel for a company mainly comprised of thousands of engineers and executives that are US citizens. None of these employees can guarantee they will be in the country on Nov 8 Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

I'm glad you get to put a mark by the name you want to vote for, as if you had to write it in, you'd probably have trouble, even if you were spotted the first two letters. It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

I don't think I agree although I am not sure I have a defendable reason. It just feels to me that voting, changing your mind voting again maybe multiple times is against the spirit of democracy and likely opens up many more opportunities for voting irregularities and coercion. So if you mark your ballot wrong at the booth, or change your mind at the last minute, should you be allowed to tear that one up and get a new one? Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

That's the process in Canada. But once posted in the ballot box, you are done with voting. No takesies backsies. Early voting is limited to a few stations, but was incredibly popular at the last election. Unless you get a dispensation (which isn't hard to apply for and get) you have to vote at a location and box you are registered for. You also have to show ID along with the registration card, or have someone swear to your name. The count is a tedious process, but gets to done pretty quickly... I had the box counted and reported and cross checked 35 minutes after polls closed. But each box is only 200-500 voters, so there's a lot of human power needed to get voting done. But only one thing to vote for (rather than the long slates in the US). And the human process, though fallible, is also much easier to cross check, as there's paper work out the wazoo.
