Well, you seem to call him racist but think such a video is humor.

If the gop establishment wants to call him racist then they deserve to lose elections. I'm no big fan of the establishment wing of the party.

That video was made by the son of Alfonso Arau, the actor from "Romancing the Stone" (1984) and "The Three Amigos"(1986) who later became the director of " Like Water for Chocolate" which at one time was the highest grossing Spanish language film in the USA.

"A day without a Mexican" was pretty much a financial and critical dud. So you can't read too much into it. But, yes, much Latino humor revolves around their own stereotypes.

I saw a similar video but from the point of blacks. Different things they said they heard, of course. But same basic thing. In the end it seems like the reason they hear it is because of people who try too hard to be inclusive.

Now race and ethnicity in the USA are "self-identifying" so no check is done on "validity". You are what you say you are. It has been observed that most people who object to the question on moral grounds tend to fill out "other" for race. They don't check Asian Vietnamese if they are Irish.

But in addition to the original Spaniards and Portuguese, there have been large scale immigration from Europe particularly to South America. At the same time the Italians were coming to USA, they were also moving to Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil. Argentina in particular considers itself primarily a European nation as much as Canada or Australia.

Most Latinos that you have seen are called "Mestizo" since they have European and Native American ancestry. In the South of Mexico many people speak Spanish as a second language, and they are much more purely indigenous people.



Cameron Diaz's mother has English, Scots-Irish, German and Cherokee ancestry. Christina María Aguilera 's father is Ecuadorian, while her mother has German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry. Shakira's paternal grandparents are Lebanese. So you might think of them as mixed, but they are also "white Latinas".

I usually check "Native American" when I want to mess with a survey. I figure based on how a liberal professor held up a piece of paper and said, "this is white, do any of you look like this?" Then did the same with something I forget what painted black, well, I was born here so I am native.

California had a ballot to try to ban the state from collecting racial data some years back. The ones who fought to defeat it were on the left and the same kinds of groups that complain about what box they "have" to check. One would think that the same people who yearn for a "post-racial" America would welcome the end of such data collection, but they demanded it be kept. I guess just it just shows what a big business the race industry is and will remain in the USA.

It's much worse than that. It's an admission that Trump's immigration policy is so inherently bad that it repels the majority of the population, so he has to mask what he means. In effect that "proposing a less irrational policy is just rhetoric. We really mean to kick those people out, all of them."

I wonder how many US citizens are aware how restrictive legal immigration is.
