Are these sensors now common in replacement tires?
Are these sensors standard across all car models
This is real neat how the tires are monitored

I believe the sensor is in the hub, not the tire. If you are just replacing the rubber you should be fine.

Mounted on the wheel, tire has nothing to do with it.
Been required in all cars for several years.
Idea is hardly new, been around since at least the 1984 Corvette.

Despite the system being around for many years, I don't find it reliable. Sensors go bad all the time, and the pressure readings can vary from actual. To me, the only thing it is good for is to tell you a tire might be low, and if you are checking the pressure regularly, you will know this already.

that is vital. long distance truckers take a long handled thumper and strike the tires at every fuel and rest stop. I wonder if you could load one side of the truck and get different readings on the sensors?

Shouldn't make a difference as the sensors measure psi not weight.

All I know about tires is, in the 60's
and 70's and even into the 80's
flat tires were common. You had
to change a tire here and there, it
was inevitable.

I can't remember the last time I had
a flat tire. Has to be early 90's, 25
years ago. Same with headlights.
Used to always carry a spare in
the 60's and 70's. Now you can't
change them yourself if you wanted
to.

I just changed my headlights. Thought I had I pull the whole assembly but I managed to do it without. Tight but got it done.

The real money is in those little two piece plastic clips that hold everything together. What a racket!

You're lucky, you must have a truck.
On a car, it's not possible.
