My apologies. This is indeed not true. here's the right version:

"All people are equal, but Catholic, cisgender, straight people are more equal than others."

There.

Nope still completely wrong. "All people are equal in God's eyes."

Imagine for a second if there was not a Church to try to bring some sanity into that period of craziness. Think how many witches would have been burned or worse at the hands of Roman Pagans or Germanic Barbarian tribes.

You're doing it AGAIN!! It's really unbelievable
how often you fall back on the old and dependable
"We were bad, but not as bad as others were, or
could have been." This is not not NOT a defense.
When a serial killer goes on trial, his lawyer will
never say, yes judge, my client is a horrible person,
but not nearly as horrible as Ted Bundy. It doesn't
work, it's not a defense. That the Church doesn't
see that is amazing.

This is a powerful and well written quote. With all due respect to Maureen Dowd she hasn't really looked into the history and practices of the Church

She goes one step better, she's been LIVING IT
for her entire life. She doesn't need to see your
side of it, she knows what she's experienced, and that
trumps the Church's explanation every time. Same
with Nareed. First hand repeated experiences is
where the proof is.

Or Protestants speak more plainly than Catholics -- on some issues.

No.

A Catholic, cisgender, straight man can marry a Catholic, cisgender, straight woman, with the blessings of the church. A Catholic, cisgender lesbian woman cannot marry a Catholic, cisgender lesbian woman. So you see the straight ones are more equal than the non-straight people.

A momentary feeling or desire will not set his attitude or philosophy of life.

So what of the moron who said a man who desires another woman commits adultery in his heart? Was he exaggerating, or being a moral jerk?

Why do you think because someone cannot marry someone they are considered unequal. The Church doesn't allow polygamy or first cousins to marry. I can't marry anyone. Marriage in the Church is defined as a covenant of unconditional, permanent, faithful love that is between a man and a woman that symbolizes the love of God. Two women or two men don't meet this definition. It has nothing to do with who is more equal than others. An married woman in the Church is not greater than an unmarried woman.

Someone who knew that we need to keep custody of our thoughts and not allow those thoughts of adultery to burrow in our minds where they become the seedbed for action.

I'm sure how you reached your statement after reading that informative article. It seems clear that Judaism developed a teaching on punishment and reward in the afterlife while reflecting on their Scriptures.

I reached my statement from this:
Quote:
While this vision of Sheol is rather bleak (setting precedents for later Jewish
and Christian ideas of an underground hell) there is generally no concept of
judgment or reward and punishment attached to it. In fact, the more
pessimistic books of the Bible, such as Ecclesiastes and Job, insist that all of the dead go down to Sheol, whether good or evil, rich or poor, slave or free
man

In particular "generally no concept of judgement or reward and punishment attached to it."

Hell was invented by men, later.

Until the 12th century, priests were allowed to
marry and have children. But as the Church
grew, they were aware that priests were
accumulating property and leaving it to
their families when they died instead of
the Church. So they put a stop to it by
making priests take their awful vows of
chastity and poverty. And then Church's
real problems began.
