Terrible, horrible attack in Paris

It's pretty much a trope these days that when someone goes nuts and shoots a bunch of people or drives a truck into a crowd, that inevitably, the person's neighbor will be interviewed and she (always "she," for some reason) will say something along the lines of "he was such a nice, quiet young man." Usually, though, this appears as a follow-up to existing news stories. Where Fox News dropped the ball is by reporting that this guy was a real sweetheart instead of the actual news, that he committed a hate crime against a Muslim airport worker. Reporting that he was a veritable angel serves to imply that it's really all right to assault a Muslim if you're a real swell guy otherwise. What possible relevance to the incident does it have that the criminal in question was nice to his mom and liked puppies? Fox was trying to put its usual Trumper slant on things--assaulting Muslims really isn't so bad, and shouldn't be a crime anyway, because they're all terrorists. |

Trudeau understands what Trump, Trumpers, conservatives, and other racist bigoted assholes do not. Diversity strengthens and improves a country. Canada is one of the most diverse nations on earth and has always had a liberal immigration policy, It's worked great for them. So Canada will become more diverse and cosmopolitan while we strive, futilely, to Make America White and Stupid Again. Yep, we'd rather have Joe Sixpack, sitting on his couch, belching and scratching himself, than a MOOOOOZLEEEEM refugee!!!! They're all terrorists!!!! Every single one!!! And their pets, too! |

I disagree. I think they say exactly how many liberals really think of anyone who does not swallow their worldview. It is a troll post, but after watching numerous interviews of liberals on YT since the election this is exactly how many feel. Some are just a tad more vocal and direct than others. War is peace. Of course they aren't. That is just the space that particular poster likes to occupy. He overstates just about everything to an almost laughable extreme. He advocates the death of "Trumpers" (whatever the hell they are). I thought he wasn't serious about actually wanting them dead, but he kind of insisted that he is. The fact is that the United States is, and will remain, an incredibly diverse country. We will still have lots of immigrants from lots of places, including the seven right now under the EO. They may get asked more questions upon entry and it may be a bit harder for them to get in. Hopefully, we'll slow down illegal entry. Maybe we'll figure out how to deport a person who is a criminal eligible for deportation and actually keep them out. Hopefully, unfair usage of programs, like the H1B program, will be stopped. Disney being allowed to replace highly trained and paid workers with workers being paid less on H1B Visas due to a non-existent shortage of workers is ridiculous. |
