lol I saw what you did there. You know, Jim kept his rates the same through some high inflation years.

I work with a guy who is also a P.I. I dropped the $200 plus expenses thing and he took a sec but got it, then told me it is now about $600 a day.

I watched little TV after 1975, I moved to
Calif and TV was not on my agenda. I saw
a few ep's of Rockford but have no memories
of it. I was a big Kung Fu fan, and that in the
same period.

With all the talk about Uber I decided to sign up as a driver and see how the process went. I don't know how accurate their background check is but it took five business days for mine to clear. I submitted all information and I'm up and running. I recieved a email Mon that I was approved to drive! I already had a trip planned that would put me in the heart of what Uber claimed would be the best area to drive. When I arrived I turned on the Uber app and waited for a ping.

I circled around a couple of blocks and the app pinged and I had a request for a pickup. All the information I recieved was the riders name and rating and their location. Nothing was mentioned about where they where wanting to go. I drove to the designated spot and my rider waved at me and two business men, who had been out for a night on the town climbed into my car. They stated their destination which was a twenty minute drive away. I proceeded to their destination and the only thing they said to me the entire trip was to ask how long it should take them to get to the airport the next morning.

I dropped them off at their hotel and let the app know that I had dropped them off. I wasn't planning on doing another run but as soon as I pulled out of the hotel parking lot the app dings again!! Another pickup only three minutes away. I pick up three people leaving a restaurant after dinner and drive them back to where I just picked up the two business men. I spent a total of a hour and the total fare for the two rides was 51.83. After Uber expenses I should net a little over $40 for the trip.

I hope to put some more time in Sat so I should be able to post more about how it goes after then. I'm NOT looking to make a living driving Uber but I put a little extra jingle in my pocket, on a Monday night as well!!

So who does better per hour?

Uber drivers or people using their own car to deliver pizza?

Pizza guys totally depend on tips, Uber doesn't
get them. You'd be amazed the tips pizza drivers
get.

Buddy of mine delivers pizza, says he is clearing at least $100 per night. Guy is in his 50s and the owner loves him because he shows up for work on time and sober. Said one guy tipped him $5 just for remembering the dog's name. Another MAWG who is happier driving deliveries than hanging in a cubicle farm.

There are guys who deliver pizza for
years. It's short hours and they make
so much cash it's hard to quit. You
get the same people again and again
and people like to tip people they know.

I made $40 Monday night in about a hour. I'm sure that is going to be no where near average though. Uber says $27+ on Sat night. I plan on driving Sat and putting several hours in. I'll know more about how it typically goes after then.

Don't kid yourself. I was in the business
for years, 7 days a week. You'll know
something after you've done it 2 months,
if you're driving full time. 4 months if
it's part time. The fares are given out
randomly, it takes that long for a reliable
pattern to form.

Just heard Uber has a new service in China, to expand later. If you are a driver you can punch in where you are going and passengers can request a ride. It is basically a form of car-pooling, you would have to assume that the rate is lower because the driver is already going that way anyways.

Sharing economy just keeps getting bigger.
