Smart guys who retire young get easy jobs to live on another 20 years.

I've never been able to find an "easy job"...
and I've never found any job that was "easy to get".

I once applied for a job that involved sitting at the filing window and putting documents into a time clock. It was one county north so I made it into a leisurely drive up and a bit of sightseeing and exploration before my leisurely drive home...my rejection letter beat me home!

A job that easy would drive me crazy. I need a job with a physical side to it and some mental challenge or I wouldn't last. Sounds worse than a WalMart greeter.

Depends on how you define it all. One easy one is working auto auctions, drive the cars around. Another is driving for Enterprise or U-Haul when they want to reposition cars or trucks. Real Estate places need signs put up. Dog tracks need people to bring out the dogs.

They are out there. Easy to get varies. you have to look hard sometimes. They do not get advertised.

I just chided the entire forum about cursing and now this guy wants me to talk about the f#$%ing post office. You try'na get me suspended? ;)

Not much to say. I mean, I could mini rant a few peeves, but nothing's really set me off to do a good one. In fact, now that it's a bit nicer out, I've run into people more often and many say they're not looking forward to me leaving the route. Got at least 4 "good jobs" this week.

I guess it's become routine. It's working well as I'm totally alone and it's mostly just driving my ass around. If When I get pissed off, there's always a dismount coming right up that gets me physical and burns it off.

For sure there's the QVC fiends with their damn teal bags every goddamn day, and of course they have to be the folks who live a quarter mile off the road. And there's the people who call and complain for literally every single thing. Mail sucks, you know? It don't take much for a letter to get dirty and fool the machine, even a drop of water turns that paper into almost glue. Occasionally, pieces get stuck together and you'll get one piece from another town. If that happens, put it back in the box with the flag up. No big deal, I'll just grab it tomorrow. But noooooo, some of these c#$%s need to make a federal case of it. Seriously, who gives that much a f#$% about mail? It wasn't even first class, it was junk offers from Geico. But stop the f#$%ing presses! This doesn't belong to me!

Shut ins weird me out, too. They're not literal agoraphobes, I've seen them out. But they just will not deal with me. I got a scanner in my hand, certified mail in my hand, a uniquely shaped and painted truck screaming it's hazard lights into the world, yet they treat me like Son of Sam. So here I am, on the porch, trying to scream through glass "CERTIFIED MAIL I NEED A SIG!" loud enough for the sender to have heard me. One of these is the same woman who gets, no joke, 30 pieces of mail a day, 27 of which are some Save the Animal! type BS that, on my life, makes PETA look like a rational and reasonable operation. It's... there's just a lot of characters out there. There's a very weird sort of intimacy you all of the sudden have with like 700 different families all at once. Divorces, custody disputes, bankruptcy, erectile dysfunction, college denials, lawsuits, foreclosures, births, weddings, there's like 1,500 people who I'm now all up in their s#$% and know too much about. It's pretty strange.

That's about it, lately. I'll surely come here if SHTF or something crazy happens, but for now, it's been pretty mundane.

Face should be happy. As a mail carrier and
fisherman, winter is over. Looking at the
forecast till the end of March, 40's 50's
and even some 60's every day. He has to
wait till next Xmas to 'go postal'..

I'm there, man. Shed all the gear today, wore sneakers. Was close to if not 60*. When I hit my last box and looked at the clock, it hadn't even went to PM yet =)

Face, at your post office or substation would you be the employee voted most likely to go postal?
