Hot Fuzz is what EB refers to as "Brit Silly". It's a send up on British gun wary society with it's idylliic village life and low crime rate. Nicholas Frost watches American buddy cop films for entertainment.

I loved this movie
A total hoot
I read that the 2 main police officers in the movie actually detested each other during filming

Odd, as they appeared in Shaun of the Dead together and are long time friends. Frost and Peggy also starred in the World's End (last of the cornet to trilogy) and Paul.

Frost doesn't seem to have had the starring roles like Peggy has (mission impossible and star trek).

I copied this from IMDB trivia Hot Fuzz

"Before filming the lay-by scene, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reportedly had an argument. Pegg claimed Frost was getting cocky and making the ADs get him coffee, whereas Pegg wanted him to get his own. As a result they took four hours to do that scene and they didn't talk to each other at all except when acting. "

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost knew each other when they were so poor that they ended up sharing a bed. I think they've done five movies together over more than a decade. I doubt that the incident was real, or it was a spat among friends.

3/18/11 Paul Uni. $37,412,945

Just finished up OZ on Amazon prime
I watched the 1st 2 seasons years ago when it 1st came out on DVD
Just finished up the last 4 seasons binge watching over the last month
What a great series, very brutal

Now hooked on the Wire, up to season 1 ep5
Love it. Very realistic.
A huge season 1 arc investigation
I like big arcs instead of a new case each episode

The BBC's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is a 7 part miniseries about the restoration of magic in England just after the conquest of Ireland and during the Napoleonic Wars. Think Harry Potter for adults.

Like Penny Dreadful it is a magic based story set in the 19th century. So far it seems more cerebral than Penny Dreadful.

I enjoyed it, good FX and an intriguing story. 90% on Rotten.
Lots of speculation on a 2nd season, with the Brits it could
be 2 years from now.

Hard to believe that show started 20 years ago. Too bad it declined as it went on. Someone should have explained to the writers that you do not have to kill every guest star character off. I did like how they kept it sort of real time, and you could identify with how much of you life you lose so fast if you screw up and end up doing a nickel or dime in the can.

I read a review of OZ by an actual prisoner
A couple things he said was wrong in OZ
He said yes there are some rapes but overall the relationships are consensual
He also said too many deaths in OZ from stab wounds
He said its actually hard to stab somebody to death. Most prisoners survive multiple stabbings.

Former CO on a job interview with me said biggest problem was that the prisoners were so unsupervised and free to move about.

I don't buy the consensual rape thing. Giving it up to save your life is not consensual. Now I have heard the days of drag em out gang rapes are mostly over. But that just means the direct violence has been replaced with indirect. Legally a prisoner cannot consent to sex of any kind.

I buy it on stabbings. But it is tv.
