The Painted Veil. Gorgeous movie, great acting
from a book by Somerset Maugham. Slow moving
but intriguing. Ends like most novels from the
period. To be expected. It was all Hemingway
could do not to kill off all the main characters
in his books,

The Family Man, Nic Cage, 2000. This is actually
a very good movie. Good story, good acting,
good everything. It's a Christmas story, but
not really. Cage gets to see a glimpse of the
path he could have taken. It's predictable,
but none the less intriguing. Don Cheadle
steals the few scenes he's in, but he always
does.

Stranger Things

I'm two episodes in and it's great so far.

This is the biggest hit Netflix has had in a while. Everyone is talking about it.

I had to jump on the bandwagon.

Millie Bobby Brown (Born: February 19, 2004 in Marbella, Spain) who plays "eleven" is a future superstar. Her excellent acting covers up a lot of weaknesses in the series. She is actually considered to be almost a prodigy by the adults who direct her.

She started out on BBC America in Intruders from (23 August - 1 October , 2014 )

I don't finish the majority of Netflix series, but I have to say that "Stranger Things" was one of them.

But the writers consider the series an homage to 1980's films. Personally, I think that grave robber is closer.

Wow, an understatement if there ever
was one. I gave up halfway thru ep 4,
the bad acting of most of the cast was
just too much to bear. And it was soooo
sloooow moving, I just couldn't take it
anymore. It's 80's yet they use 2016
slang? Really? Because you can binge
watch this is the reason some people
liked it. If you had to wait a week in
between episodes, you would never
remember (or care) what happened last
week. It's a kids show, I think, that's why
it's so bad. Kids don't care.

I agree it is great.

Curious how EvenBob says he has me blocked, but he often responds to posts that are quoting my posts (which he wouldn't be able to see if he truly had me blocked).

Hot Fuzz is what EB refers to as "Brit Silly". It's a send up on British gun wary society with it's idylliic village life and low crime rate. Nicholas Frost watches American buddy cop films for entertainment.

A virtual who's who of fine British actors behaving like idiots.

Speaking of Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard who plays Mike, will be playing Richie in next year's R-rated remake of Stephen King's IT.

I am really looking forward to this. IT has always been one of my favorite Stephen King books. The made for TV version starring Tim Curry scarred me as a child, but it had to leave a lot of the horror and gore out to be suitable for a TV audience.
