An article by Christopher Booker lol Are you kidding me. The guy does not believe in evolution. How about an article link from someone of intelligence. Wouldn't surprise me if he belongs to the flat earth society :-) Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

"no longer listening to this claptrap" Are you kidding me? The pope is visiting the USA Sep 22. I predict rock star crowds listening. Congress will definitly be listening, he addresses them Sep 24 The UN will be listening, he speaks there Sep 25. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

That's preaching inside the echo chamber.
And they will because of the large echo chamber. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | "Freedom is not always about doing what you want. In fact it is the gift of being able to choose the right way." Pope Francis Why is everything a 'gift' with this religion. If you look at everything that way, as 'gifts', you feel the burden of guilt to the giver, that's why. Only is this case, there is no giver, there is no god giving anybody anything. There is no need to feel the pressure of insidious guilt over something made up to instill the guilt in you. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I just don't like it when people are guilted for the reason of having power over them. If my mother would say to me, play easy with that toy, it was a gift from your aunt, don't break it. She was instilling guilt in me to make me play nice with the toy. If I broke it I would feel huge guilt. The Church is no different. By claiming all you have is a 'gift' from some god, they constantly remind you of your debt to said god. The Church uses this as leverage to keep you in line. You'll never admit it, but you know I'm correct. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

If not it's just more meaningless hot wind from the Vatican. "Oh please forgive us, but nothing has changed or will change" More Christian 'love' at it's ugliest. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/pope-says-church-ask-forgiveness-gays-past-treatment-203628573.html If you take a risk, you may lose. Nareed Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 346 Posts: 12545 | So the pope claims the church owes the LGBTQI people an apology, which he diluted with many other groups involved as well, notably women (I suppose it's fair, as the church has wronged many people in many ways). And he's received a lot of praise for doing so. I think it's a very tiny first half-step. See, while he says this, the church continues to oppress and do wrong for women and LGBTQI people anyway. This isn't like an abusive husband feeling remorse and apologizing after he beats his wife, but rather an abusive husband saying how sorry he is while he continues to beat his wife. What use is an apology if you'll continue to treat people badly. Will the church ordain women, and thus allow them a real say in church policy? Will the church stop agitating against recognition of same sex civil marriages? Will they stop going the extra mile to prevent same sex couples from adopting? will they allow women to use such contraceptives as they find most effective and convenient to their life and marital circumstances? That's what would be worth doing, apology or no apology. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |
