I hate getting incorrect error messages

well, now that I know what they are, I suppose it's more a matter of shaking my head at the stupidity

I think I just got one from the DMV, saying my password wasn't recognized. The real problem is probably that they just aren't open yet. Even if it isn't the problem, this happens to me so often that I have to wait and make sure before clicking on "I forgot my password" [which I didn't]

all kinds of incorrect error messages come up. It's laziness at these outfits. Maybe your mileage varies

My gripe is that most sites won't tell you if it is the UserID or password that is wrong. I seem to always try and correct the wrong one.

afflicting me today, two of them

* getting a false error message from your computer. The people who program these messages don't give a hoot about being accurate or not, and they are more likely to be inaccurate than otherwise if you ask me. Today a page that had been open for days somehow lost its identity or something and I got a pop-up saying 'lost connection, retrying' as if the internet were down ... it wasn't and the page wasn't "retrying" to connect, wasting my time

* Worse! searching on the internet for a product and the search engine lists stuff they want to sell but which don't match what I asked for. This has been nearly disastrous at times ... these days I'm very careful

Amazon I've caught popping up in a google search for a product they don't sell at all

The password or the user name is not correct. Or it's the wrong time, wrong day, wrong year, wrong computer, wrong Universe. Now go pound sand useless human

I had to click on 'i forgot my password' for paypal this morning

only I hadn't forgotten my password, Paypal just wouldn't accept the absolutely, no doubt, double-checked correct one, which I had changed just a week ago and for sure had been using. So paypal for some reason wanted me to change my password, but instead of asking me to do so, went this route. Perhaps some ass was trying to hack into my account with some passwords it got by hacking into some outfit like, yes, Equifax!, but I use a different password for each site. Or maybe the news will soon be that Paypal just got hacked and we all need to change our passwords. Some exec was using the name of her pet that she posts about on Facebook, or got phished by some Russkie on the phone pretending to be their IT guy? Who knows but Paypal decided to the best way to proceed was to insult me and making me click on the prompt that says I was the one who screwed up and silly me, forgot my password.

definitely this stuff is a pet peeve

I have had that happen and go back later and it's working again.

those ads that pop up and say 'continue' got me again. I hope you know what I'm talking about, it's a trick to get you started on something not related to the site you went to. First got me about a year ago, and I vowed they wouldn't get me again. But I was trying to sign in to my Imgur account and it really looked like the real deal

a pet peeve for sure and really sleazy, possibly even phishing can be involved. Shame on sites that allow it

pet peeve: people who talk as though there is a 'dark side' to the moon

there is a 'far side' to the moon, and it is always facing away from Earth owing to tidal lock. But it faces the sun plenty, Pink Floyd claims notwithstanding
