Except that we all pay into the healthcare system here via our taxes, and are happy to do so. Most Canadians feel that they should have access to good healthcare regardless of income. I have no problem with a poor/unemployed person going to the ER or to a doctor's office at the same time and getting the same level of care as anyone else. It's a view shared by all western countries except for one.

And this view is why all but one western country has rationing of health care, limits on choice, and longer wait times. If there is no penalty for using the E/R for minor issues then the wait at the E/R will always be long as there is no reason not to go there.

Quote:
We don't call people who overuse the ER greedy or lazy; we call them stupid, or we call them hypochondriacs.

Perhaps this is the reason so many Canadians that prefer a choice in care and not waiting months show up in the USA?

I haven't followed all the threads, so many this has been brought up before, sorry if it has:

I certainly have noticed that no one is mentioning anywhere one big thing to take away from the Veterans Administration scandal: it was awful that veterans had to wait for medical care, and tragic that some died waiting. But if the government is to pay for the cost of health care, then the thing to expect is rationed health care. The VA is seeing it now [has always seen it I think] and in the future should we go to total Socialism in health care, private insurance illegal, then we can all expect it. Medicare provision may be next.

And yes the government will be tempted to cook the books so it doesnt look so bad.

I realize this is not what we got in Obamacare ; on the other hand, I do see unsustainable things IMO in the ACA as it is now.

The VA is worse than the government paying for it, the VA is what happens when you have the government running it! Yet this is what more and more people (47%?) say they want. No dirty "profits" for anyone, just rock-bottom priced care. Thought when they find what the conditions are in a profit-free, USSR-style system they will be very surprised, indeed!

Our best hope is it stops at a two-track system. Those that want "free health care" can line up at VA-style clinics and wait, wait, and wait for care. Those of us who do not get upset because our doctor drives a nicer car than we do can get better and faster care. But eventually someone will cry, "NOT FAIR" and destroy even that kind of system.

Born this way: Stories of young transgender children

You've got to be kidding me. What's this country coming to? So if a young boy wants to have candy for breakfast, parents are supposed to say no, but if that same boy wants to become a girl, parents are supposed to say...............Yes??? *facepalm*

Just another sign of the collapse of a society. Nobody is supposed to say anything is abnormal or wrong, just let it be. It is going to get much, much worse.

Yeah, he's a dead "hero" who, despite having a gun, got killed, not knowing the situation he was in.

And the gunmen decided to use the Tea Party flag to cover the officers after they shot them. And they were interviewed near the Bundy, supporting Bundy's attempt to keep his cattle on federal land.

Sounds like a slam dunk for the Liberals here.

.

And they were asked to leave the ranch
because they were too radical.

"Miller and his wife, Amanda Miller, were the only protesters kicked off the ranch during an April protest against the federal government."

Try presenting the whole story and not just the
part that makes you happy.
