In a condo you need it due to shared structure. But these people who love them in detached homes amaze me. Pay a fee so you can get fined if you paint your house a shade someone does not like. Still, the sheep love it because they are afraid someone will do something they do not approve of. Pure East Germany.

If the oil companies hadn't done any research at all, then at least I could say they were just promoting their product. But they lied about it from their own research.

Have you boycotted using petroleum based products yet? I am guessing no as most of us would rather enjoy the convenience they provide.

No, first of all, because we don't need to eliminate petroleum products completely. i just reduced my reliance on some, and support more clean energy initiatives. Same as everyone needs to do. And I'm not a martyr. If someone else wants to be, great.

I also, don't support animal cruelty. Do you? If you haven't become a fulltime activist against it, does that mean you don't support it? I think plenty of people support causes without being the most extreme activist for it.

I understand your point but I think your second analogy is poor. As one who is against animal cruelty, i am not beating the animals less than I was before.

To boycott petroleum products completely would be impossible. It is why I laugh at activists like the idiots in Europe who glue themselves to things. Back in the usenet days during the Gulf War we had a guy on campus posted he "did not use petroleum products." I shot him down a dozen ways, starting with the computer he was typing on. Those types are so uninformed it is amazing.

It can definitely be done but almost no one would make that sacrifice. If you were willing to live off grid in the mountains and hunt with sticks and rocks while making your own clothes from animal pelts you could do it.

Oil company propaganda? Where? I have seen none other than that they try to get people to buy their brand of gasoline.

No need to work on my research. I have many times here explained why I am not one of the sheep just believing because I was told to do so. I have also pointed out how by adding "climate change" to a non-news news story the sheep believe in climate change all the more. I have pointed out how the high-priests of climate change do not change their energy-gulping ways but tell the sheep that said sheep need to do so.

Not sure what more you need. Keep being a sheep, those in power will shear you many times until they see more value in skinning you.

No one calls you a sheep. You are more like an ostrich.

Who gets caught and slaughtered? Sheep or ostriches?

Both. And at least 1 species of ostrich has gone extinct during modern times as a result.

here we go - some more grist for the Climate Change Deniers mill

the chart from EPA (linked) shows the increasing number of record high days and the decreasing number of record low days thru the recent decades - most significant is the extreme increase in record hot days and extreme decrease in record low days in the 2000s

looks like about 50 % record highs and 50% record lows in the 1950s

and about 65% record highs and 35% record lows in the 2000s

the chart doesn't show the 2010s but the other link - AP news - states that the 2010s were the hottest decade on record per measurements from NASA at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies
