Remember when we all drank FCOJ for breakfast?.

They don't anymore? I haven't had
OJ since 1970, it's pure sugar.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Orange juice from concentrates is usually five years old and contains undisclosed flavor enhancers.

Five years old? That makes no sense. They do not sit on product that long, and any additives would be on the label.

Ever see that History Channel thing where they made canned corn? Truck to can in less than an hour.

Agreed. It is, however, the truth.
>>>> They do not sit on product that long,
Oh yes, they do.
>>>>>and any additives would be on the label.
Nope. By law the flavor pack chemicals are trade secrets that do not have to be disclosed on the label.

Why would they sit on product that long? In retail the key is keep turning inventory. In the case of FCOJ you will get 2 seasonal harvests, USA and southern hemisphere. Then you pack and ship it. Nobody wants dead inventory sitting 5 years. Do you have some kind of cite for this?

They would still have to say "artificial flavor" or something like that, as they do on many labels.

Because it is profitable and helps them meetthe mandatory 11.8 brix count.

The code of federal regulation is online and searchable for free. I think its 130.13 or something.

And don't say no one would want it if it is five years old when what you really mean is no one would want it if they KNEW it was five years old.

.....>>>>>They would still have to say "artificial flavor" or something like that, as they do on many labels.
NOPE. Not for orange juice. Neither the existence of the flavor pack nor its constituent chemicals has to be disclosed.

And those LaCroix cans with 'natural flavors'... contain a chemical also used in roach sprays.... and it is indeed legal.

How is sitting on product for 5 years profitable?

Because gravity squeezes out some very pricey substances that they market and the remaining pulp helps them meet that 11.8 brix standard that otherwise they would have to buy stuff to meet. The University of Florida invented this stuff long ago and the futures markets made it very profitable. Its great to be able to sell something as a healthy breakfast drink when it is really cheap sugar that you are selling but don't have to disclose that.

That is not "sitting on it." That is production time. Except for beer, which in 99% of cases must be sold fresh. Sam Adams Utopias they sit on, thought that is BINO.
