Still waiting for the verse you had in mind that proves baseball was played in Biblical times. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

That's what all of this is about, inventing a god and then making yourself the center of that gods attention. He's interested in every thought you have and every action you take. He better be, because nobody else is. If you're the apple of some gods eye, that means you're important. And Christians always stress this a lot. God loves you, you're are important to him. People must be very insecure because they eat this nonsense up. It gives me the creeps, but I'm not insecure, I don't need to feel important. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The more you talk to true believers, the more you realize that evidence means nothing to them. They want and need to believe, so they do. That's the huge difference with atheists, we have no interest in believing anything without real evidence. It's such a huge waste of time. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Ha, the hypocrisy is so rich. The real difference with atheists is that they come to the conclusion there is no God without real, unreal, or any kind of evidence whatsoever. In fact they come to that conclusion in the face of all kinds of evidence. It really is amazing the lengths people will go to believing something just because they so desperately want it to be true. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

It doesn't work to turn it around. If there was real evidence you would have presented it. Carl Sagan never saw any, Einstein either. What Sagan said was the truth. It's all about the deep seated need of the believer to believe, that's all there is to it. You want to believe, you have to believe. You'll make compromises, you'll suspend your common sense disbelief for so long you'll never find it again. Just to satisfy an almost pathological need to have something to believe in. Atheists don't have that need, we're satisfied with just finding out how things work as we go along. We have no desire to fill in the blanks with urban myths and superstition just because we're impatient. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

What is your evidence of this? Speaking of evidence you have NEVER taken up my challenge to point out why the many things I gave you as evidence were not evidence. You keep just saying over and over that is not like you have a desperate need for it to not be true and you simply close your mind and eyes to it and hope it all goes away. I have posted many times of lists of evidence that you never even begin to answer or explain why in your strange little ways they don't count. I also have never seen from you any evidence to support why you are so sure there is no God. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

I'm ignoring the rest of your post and just going here. I'm very worried about you. We've been down this road so many times the tarmac is worn. I'll say what I always say when you ask this. I've can't produce evidence Santa doesn't exist. Or unicorns. Or Big Foot. The burden isn't on me to disprove something, the burden is on the person making the statement. You cannot approach someone and say, unicorns are real, prove me wrong. You truly don't remember that we've discussed this a dozen times. You really have to ask yourself why that is. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

| FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | And you clearly don't remember two important things about our many conversations about this. I'm surprised you bring it up again. 1. To make a "positive" truth claim that there is definitely no God is different than saying there is not evidence for the existence of God. The former is the illogical position of an atheist. The second is that of an agnostic. You have said many times that there is no God and seem quite confident of such an outlandish position. I continue to be curious as to why? It certainly isn't because of any evidence you have provided. You share a burden of proof if you are going to say definitively that there is no God. 2. You can show evidence that there is no Santa Claus or Unicorns. The story of Santa Claus doesn't work and is not reasonable. How does a finite not all powerful overweight man living at the North Pole deliver billions of gifts throughout the world on one night? Why is it that ever parent eventually admits there is no Santa Claus. There has never been a single unexplainable gift that has been attributed to Santa Claus. We have completely explored the North Pole and there is no elves, workshops, or Santa Claus. Likewise for unicorns, leprechauns, Big Foot, etc. I think you think you are being clever but really you are just demonstrating that you are thinking thoroughly or clearly about this issue to make the offensive comparison between God and these things like Santa Claus. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

You obviously have had no trouble attributing acts of god through ordinary men in the bible. How does an ordinary men part the Red Sea? How does an ordinary man raise the dead? Not just Jesus claimed these things. You already accept claims not within ordinary physics, why be a hypocrite just because you don't want to believe?
