Don't even know if it's accurate, but the explanation makes sense to me. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

Knives Out had a production budget of $40M DOMESTIC (53.1%) $165,363,234 INTERNATIONAL (46.9%) $146,035,067 It was the top comedy of 2019 if you don't count "Jumanji: The Next Level". But that is a helluva lot of money. |

Dumb investment. The second and third movies of any franchise never make as much as the first one, and that only made 400 million gross. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

If Wikipedia can be believed, the Jumanji movie did 6x its budget at the box office with 800M (I assume worldwide). I'd say that's a better than average investment. "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen..let us give them all they want." William T. Sherman |

I don't get your point. All franchise movies are a good investment? Like Ghostbusters 3 was? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Yea but streaming is different. Netflix doesn’t care if the sequels are good or not, they care about how many people will watch it. Knives Out was such a blockbuster hit that nearly everyone who saw it and also has a Netflix sub is going to watch it. |

Blockbuster hit is an overstatement. It was a solid hit. Both these movies had $40 million production budget and were released in 2019 and John Wick #3 made more money . John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum (worldwide box office is 8.1 times production budget) Knives Out (worldwide box office is 7.8 times production budget) Of course, Knives Out, probably played out better to the older audience that buys DVDs or streams movies. John Wick appeals to younger moviegoers that go to theaters. Obviously Netflix thinks this kind of movie will retain subscribers. But that still seems like an incredible amount of money. |
