Thanks for posting the link, I only now have checked back in this thread so my apologies to Chickenman.

My understanding is that a clearance to taxi to a certain point without any specific instructions made the pilot's selection at his option, though I think he had the attitude problem as well. Its not as if he was crossing an active runway to get there.

OK, for some reason (not Flea's fault) I was thinking transcript. I am deaf, will get my SO to listen and sign me. But I get the gist here in any case.

Report: Airbus' jumbo-size A380 not doing so well as orders lag behind expectations

As the largest plane in the skies, the A380 is supposed to be well-suited for highly-trafficked routes. The company believes it could free up space on crowded, but there have not been a single order for the aircraft in North America and South America to date, the Times reports

So far only 11 airlines are operating 138 the jets, with half of them being owned by Emirates and Singapore airlines. Of these airlines Emirates has another 90 on order, and the other airlines have 27 unfilled orders.

50 EMIRATES UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
19 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE
12 QANTAS AIRWAYS AUSTRALIA
10 KOREAN AIR KOREA, REPUBLIC OF
6 MALAYSIA AIRLINES MALAYSIA
6 THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL THAILAND
5 CHINA SOUTHERN AIRLINES COMPANY CHINA
2 ASIANA AIRLINES KOREA, REPUBLIC OF
---- Europe
12 LUFTHANSA GERMANY
10 AIR FRANCE FRANCE
6 BRITISH AIRWAYS UNITED KINGDOM

Another 63 jets have been ordered by the following airlines
VIRGIN ATLANTIC UNITED KINGDOM
TRANSAERO AIRLINES RUSSIAN FEDERATION
AIR AUSTRAL FRANCE
ETIHAD AIRWAYS UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR
AMEDEO IRELAND (leasing company)
UNDISCLOSED/one private

Airbus remains bullish about the prospects for the A380. It forecasts a market for 1,334 very large airliners (A380 and Boeing 747-sized four-engined planes) over the next two decades. But Boeing, which is struggling to sell any passenger versions of its latest 747-8 at all, is more cautious, predicting just 760 “superjumbos” in the same timeframe.

747-8 51 orders and 22 deliveries

Some of those orders may be to jockey for delivery dates or to "trade" the order.

I never imagined what the rest areas actually looked like on long hauls.

That's what the crew space on a submarine looks like.

You would think that one airline would outfit a cross country jet with triple lie flat cubicles like the crew has. Normal lie flat seats are uber expensive because they need so much floor space. Cublicles work better since they are three high.

That was my thoughts... having visited one of Canada's boats. The non-stacked ones look quite acceptable. I wonder if there is some rule about being seated for landing?

I'd give it a shot. I've travelled cross country in a cubicle on a train, and for sleeping and reading it was great. I wouldn't want to spend more than 9-10 hours in there, but it'd work.
